I just received a care package in the mail from Tools-R-Us..:D

Kevin is a true craftsman and an artist. I had a discussion with him a while back and was complaining that I wanted an inch of spacer but I did not want to lower the spring follow to do so because I did not want to lose upward travel. Since I run 33 inch tires I do not have to worry about rubbing at full compression and I did not want to surrender that travel.

Kevin immediately offered a solution to the less than perfect MR Gasket rubber rings. He suggested that spacers could be machined from 6061 aluminum and be made to my desired height. "By whom?" I asked. "By me", he said.

He took the challenge and produced a BEAUTIFUL pair of black anodized 6061 spacers. They have an internal taper that indexes with the stock spring follow to keep them centered and they have an inside ring to keep the spring centered.

Big moose loaned me an extra follow that I sent to Kevin so that he could tailor the internal taper. He had springs available to fit the retaining ring.

The end result is a beautiful work of art that the photos do not reveal.

Thank you Kevin, they are all I hoped for and more.

The spacer slips perfectly onto the follow and the spring seats perfectly to the spacer.

It does not get any better than this.

paypal? :)

I think kevin is out of the round stock but maybe he'll get some more in. I was at the shop while he was making the set for CDan. There was Alum swarfs EVERYWHERE around the lathe!

You sound like you work with some brits! BTW nice work by tools r us

Do you have to be CruiserDan to get a set of these, or can any loser with a Credit Card get some? :)

Probably depends on your credit limit.

WOW..................This is exactly how Revtek got started. Pat Hickman is a friend of mine and that is the exact idea that all his lift kits are on.

Get to work on a copy right!

I think they are not machining these anymore, but they are cast. I will find a pic.

Dan, they look good installed where they belong!

This is a project that I was looking for an "excuse" to make and Dan called providing the "need". They are way to labor intensive to produce on my manual lathe, the first one was fun, after that it's just work.

Unfortunately in this age where a couple of hundred can be molded out of a few bucks worth of plastic in an afternoon and sold for $40. a pair. It's impossible to compete when you start with $40. alloy blanks, then spend several hours machining them.:frown: I am not a machinist, just enjoy making swarf on old school iron machines as a hobby. A couple of buddies own machine shops, one of them said he would make them, but I am guessing it would take 20+ sets to be worth writing the program and they would still have to sell for $100+?

Shot some pix of the making, it's all very simple, just start with a hunk and cut off everything that doesn't look like a spacer!:D

ToolsRUs- are you planning on offering these for sale?

I want a set. :D

I think so.

This was a challenge that Kevin took on to see what he could do. I have yet to be presented with a bill but he has "warmed me up" so I know what to expect...

As he mentioned the billets were 40 bucks a rattle before he touched them. Even mass produced they would easily exceed 100 bucks a pair and I don't think the market will bear it. He broke a bit in the middle and I expect that I will pay for that too.......;)

The anodizing is a story all by it's self. The spacers went for a ride along with a bunch of custom AR15 receivers, made by a shop near Kevin's. That is just soooo cool.....:flipoff2:

Sooo, in other words the title of this thread should be " na na na , Look what I got and you can't have it Phhhhttttttt."

Yup........:flipoff2:

It might be possible to get him to make more but timing will be everything...along with cash in fist.

Nice job Kev, those look just like the plastic ones I have in my garage. :flipoff2:
Not sure if I'm gonna use them or not, still kickin around the idea of swappin my heavies for J's. With my light weight rig, the heavies have given me 4" of lift. I think the J's would give me 5.
