Radiator clutch fan replacement, then failed Alternator 30 miles into the mountains 🤦🏻♂️. Caught a ride to Lake City for a new battery then raw dogged it to Alamosa to have it replaced. Kids were clueless lol.
I ended up going with a used local engine that was in really good shape while running before they pulled it out, but still around 200k miles. Not the best long term solution, but I’m going to rebuild the old one from mine if possible.

Many parts are still available through dealerships.
Myself and many others have had good experiences with Partsouq. Hard to fathom that shipping from the middle East would work, but it does. Fast shipping, good packaging. OEM Toyota and...
Merlot and I have enjoyed many adventures together over my ~6 years of ownership. Now she’s looking for a new garage

Here is the pile of tools I had to use on the driver side. The impact was also used.
Found some Chevy Cobolt seats. Had them reupholstered, rails modified and installed. Wow, what a transition! I can slide back further, recline, sit higher for better visibility and they really update the interior. Next I need to get a center...
Yes, just my wife and I. I was worried about mud, but it looks like it’s been dry. I avoided the Tank traps section and took some bypasses. We were there Thursday and Friday and only saw a few side by sides on the trails. I really liked the north...

Last item on the agenda today was getting the heat shields off. 4 10mm bolts hold each one on. I used a 1/4 ratchet with a deep socket for the top two bolts on each side. Once I cracked them loose I could spin them out with my fingers. The bottom...
Judging by the condition here, this is one of the most "PO" paints jobs ever done.
I mean, painting the stamped bezel and the f'in roof black? That should just be illegal.
If you are paying someone to fix it up my 2c is to buy one already done where someone else did it right and they take the loss. The $ adds up quick if you pay someone to do it
I do have an update!
I got the fj55 running! I ran it briefly by pouring gas down the carb. I dont have the gas tank hooked up right now to the fuel pump . I gotta drain the gas and inspect the tank. Previous owners ran it on the tank so I am...
Just the harbor parking lot flooded in front of our house. I was up at higher ground for all of it, but I saw video of the harbor drained 8-10 ft deep with the boats laying on the ground, then water rushed back in. Luckily the flooding stopped...
Well I may have just committed one of the most blasphemous acts known to planet Mud. But because I am doing this for ALL mudders' benefit, so you don't have to, hopefully it is not worthy of a Mud Excommunication. 😂🙏🏼😎
The sin---- > I now...
