Why not do a tuffy center console? Then you have cupholders and a spot for your stereo. They are also lockable

Fitment is an issue with my aftermarket tub. I also don't like looking down at my stereo to work the knobs, and will put a unit in the dash.

I also want to be able to take it with me when I park overnight.

And it will look cool :)

Hindsight was making a center counsel very much like what you were describing. Not sure how far he got with the idea. Looks great as usual!

I saw that some guy made console with a removable ammo can (poly). Lots of jeep guys do the ammo can center console mod, I think its a cheap and effective way to retrofit. But since I have the luxury of starting from scratch, I might as well think outside the box. I only paid $70 on amazon for it, so its actually cheaper than the tufty.

Snuck into the garage while my 9 month was asleep, fabricated some crude fender braces out of some C-channel steel.

Temporarily anchored the fluid lines and primed the brakes and clutch.

Plumbed the e-brake, but didn't hook it up. When the body is off I will drill and tap permanent line holders. Impossible to do while underneath the car right now (well not impossible, but a total bitch)

I just like this vantage point, looking up the skirt to see such a simple machine.

And the battery tray I fab'd up.

I'll come up with some vent cover to keep the rain off the terminals. Waiting on my steering wheel and radiator hoses, than I can start the bitch! (after some simple wiring of the starter and alternator to boot).

painless. I won't tackle electrical until after its back from paint

Would the breather for your rear axle cause problems in the location that it is in? I would think that water would be able to enter the hose through that type of filter and the way it is mounted.

Finished the hose design. I just sleeved it temporarily, as I'll leave the radiator cap loose and run with no pressure while I drive it on off the trailer. Going to glue it together send in and get a couple custom hoses made. That or make some AL sleeves and lathe down a barb.

Ordered up some pipe from Columbia River Mandrel, gonna fab up a quick and dirty 2.25" down pipe using a V-band clamp.

Got all the temporary electrical hooked up. Put some squeezers on the end of the lift and injector pumps (with an inline fuse), and starter wire.

Fired up the starter and turned it over a couple times. I will post some videos of it running over the weekend. Man I am getting excited.

Thanks for reading!

I'm really enjoying your build thread, and I'd love to be able to see your 40 someday. But, I'm about four hours south of you so that opportunity probably won't come very soon. Anyway, keep up the good work and posts.

Don

Can't wait to hear it running
