HELL YEAH!!!! Another jumping 60
Ive just had some good paying summer jobs hahaha. Ill be needing a knuckle/hub rebuild in the new year as well. you can post up that skid plate pic whenever you get a chance, i think I'm just gonna go with a simple design though.

nice, i think im gonna be screwed no matter what haha, im working for the government over the summer
my rig will get to the point of yours eventually. im gonna pull the plate today i think and ill post the pic.
BTW wouldnt it be sweet to have a college/young adult tech thread in this forum? anyway ideas haha

i think a college thread would be pretty cool, i guess. Id probably avoid it because I'm not social and i hate Facebook

So I dont remember reading how you got into cruisers, so why the LC and 60 series?

Umm the sliders cost stupid money, it probably would've been a lot cheaper to have some custom made, but I'm lazy. i think i paid $750 shipped to my door, but they are top notch quality, so i can sort of justify it lol.

, its a grand story lol. i got into cruisers because i didn't like the H3 very much. In high school, it was awesome!! Pretty girls looooooved that thing, but i knew it was pretty much just a pimped minivan with a small engine...
So i started my search looking at new tahoes. Thought they were a little too... just awful. Then started looking at new and old Range rovers and LR3s, i decided they were gay. Looked into D90s, but for $20k-$50k, i want some luxuries hahaha. Then I looked at the Jeep C SRT8, but it was stupid. I would've loved an old Merc G wagon (still do), but i couldn't find any that weren't like $$$$$$$$ or just a piece of chit.
Land cruisers never even crossed my mind until i saw a red 62 near my house. i decided, "I must buy one of those!!!!!!". My mom wasn't too thrilled when she learned that they didn't have any airbags. I remember her saying, "Are you sure you don't want a new car?"
Id take a 62 that I paid for over a new 200 my parents paid for any day.

Finally got my diagnosis at ACC today. Turns out it WAS the giant tear in the air cleaner hose that brought down the mighty Woodie and got my mother all up in a tizzy. $79 and two business days are the only things that stand in the way of me and a perfectly functional land cruiser

airbags? pshaw those are for yuppie cars! thats a good story though, glad you got in to cruisers. i lucked out and my dad owned one for 20 years or so then i got hit driving it
and now we got Bessie.having your own car is awesome since you can do whatever you want to them

Yeah, I mean, I never really wanted to build this 62 up to be real trail rig. Once I'm done with the upgrades that are currently in my head (should take a year or so if i space it out
), I'm probably gonna quit with this truck and move on to something else. Probably an already built 100 Id much rather thrash one of those IFS beasts wheeling than a 60 series. Doesn't really make sense monetarily, but i figure you can always find another hundy where i live, finding another nice 62 is a tad trickier lol.

Dont ditch the 62!!! keep it and run 2 LCs!
btw got the skid plate dropped and have pictures on the way. any specific measurements you want on it? i assume you can figure out the width from frame rail to frame rail and where you want your bolts on that. i can try and get the angle for you. mine was made specifically for mine since i got a caty converter in my chevy caprice exhaust and its sort of a dog leg L shape.

No worries, I have zero plans of getting rid of the current 62 lol. But I'll probably retire the 62 as my jumping truck, the hundy's IFS will make things a lot more comfortable hehe.
I'm not really sure which measurements I need haha, I figured I would just get under there and try and cardboard it up in an attempt to make some nice full length skid plate protection!
you are going to need to bend the plate in the middle, plus make sure its thick enough to sit on.
mine only goes from the Transfer case/tranny support bar to the end of the T-case

HEY!!! Don't forget about your shade tree trail mechanic who helped fix your distributor, AND had the correct diagnosis of what was wrong! It might not have been spot on, BUT I did know it was a vacuum leak

HEY!!! Don't forget about your shade tree trail mechanic who helped fix your distributor, AND had the correct diagnosis of what was wrong! It might not have been spot on, BUT I did know it was a vacuum leak
Yes, yes. Asher is a fabulous mechanic and is the ONLY one i trust to work on the 62 out on the trails when something goes wrong. He's a super nice guy, letting me park the truck in his back yard until i was able to get it to ACC. He assured me that it was not a major problem, and sure enough it wasn't
