The cruiser should be up and running tomorrow if all goes well and i have someplace out of the rain to work, then ill stick those sliders on. AND HOPEFULLY, ill be able to get a couple fellas together and we can put them to use in the next couple weeks.

And Nick, remind me to punch you in the face the next time i see you

We can take turns drafting each other... ;)

So our trail repair last week may have hindered a little more than helped lol.

Let me explain...
It all started at ACC today. After replacing some vacuum hoses. I drive off thinking I'm in the clear, but could feel a little bit of bucking on acceleration...
FAAAAAAWWWWK!!!!

I drive on back to the shop and have Brian come out and drive, he determines that some of the cylinders aren't firing... FAAAAAWWWWWK!!!!!

After stalling a couple times, we push the truck back in the shop to make sure the distributor is clean. Turns out, we ended up knocking some of the surrounding dirt back into the distributor after we dried it all out... oops.

So after blowing it out, it probably looked good haha. But, some piece inside (don't know what haha) the distributor was just able to wiggle around inside. So when, the car got turned on... BOOOOOOM!!!!! The cap exploded off and now i need a new distributor :)

Im heading back to ACC tomorrow to hopefully have everything fixed up. I did notice the rear diff pinion seal was leaking so ill need to replace that when i finally have the woody back hahahaha. And I STILL need to put my damn sliders on, they are just sitting in my room. They are big and i stub my toes on them in the morning :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

since you got the snorkle already do you have any plans to waterproof your distributor? might be a good thing to look into or atleast seal it with grease around the edges or come silicone caulk

if its any consolation i keep stepping on my 100 watt amp for my train horn that i have yet to install...

wellll i didnt get anything from you and since you arent using your rock sliders...:hhmm: straight across trade!

i still need to get around to waterproofing mine since that killed my engine last time i did a water crossing haha

The distributor is already waterproof. That's why it done blowed up.
It got fuel vapor in it, (through the breather system from the non-firing engine) which then ignited when it got to a burnable concentration.

Make sure the cap ventilation system is fully functional before installing another dissy cap and blowing it to pieces.

Jim, if you could check in on this thread from time to time just to find solutions to my problems, I would REALLY appreciate it hahaha. You got too much land cruiser knowledge, so ill do my best to pick up what your throwing out. And ill check out the ventilation system tomorrow to ensure that the distributor cap stays happy where it lives and doesn't screw me over again. Thanks :)
...But is was the first time Brian and Michael were able to witness a D-cap explode. i was honored...

Ill be sure to get a car wash tomorrow and post some pics and small write up of the slider install. Cuz that s*** sucked.
EVERYTHING ON A 62 IS IN THE WAY!!!!!

It was, till someone removed the o-ring from the top. The explosion came from the brake clean our tech used to try and clean the massive amounts of mud and rust out with.

It has a good used dizzy in it now.

yaaaay pictures. Everyone, time to tell me how good they look.

...No right up necessary, just follow the directions.

Only things that i would change about the slider design, specifically for a FJ62, would be to move the rear most driver side arm back about 2.5" further so that it clears the exhaust mounting bracket. How its designed now, you need to remove the bracket, place the U-Bolt where it needs to go, cut a hole in the bracket for the U-bolt, then reattach. Not really a big deal, but I'm lazy.

One other thing id like to advise. Since there is no room to really fit a torque wrench, try and at least spot weld the sliders in a few spots so they can't move around. Im going to see if any local guys can help me do that and also weld my exhaust back onto one of the brackets because it does bang around on the front arm and its annoying as hell.
