Any Prosthetics shop could make you swaged cables... Only $200 a piece... unless they'll do it for some beer that is. They're used in the "conventional" prosthetic arms.

Lordco had some ends in the "Help" section that held on with a screw.

I'll be needing a pitman arm to fit a Saginaw steering box. Looking for one with an inch or two of drop... Let me know if you have got one kicking around.

Got an extra long one and one that goes up slightly if anyone's interested.

Years ago when I did my saginaw, I went to Blacky's auto wrecking in duncan, and he had a van with a PILE of saginaw arms in it...literally dozens of them.

Was ten bucks for whichever I wanted, so I did some picking and choosing.

Good to know... Can't go wrong for $10... Might even buy two just to be sure.

yeah i tried the screw end one and it doesnt hold... will try the bike stores some more...

if you dont use that long pitman arm i might want it... a pitman arm off a Jeep also works... i got one from westshore spring and offroad (used) had a 3 inch drop in it.. was $20.. they rimmed it for me for one ton tre and i set the tre on top of the pitman arm...

Is this for your 55? On mine, I used brake bolt to hold the cable to a small metal tab on the Carb... Isn't the most elegant solution, but my carb doesn't have anywhere to attach a cable end to. A new "throttle cable" runs about $5, and it can be easily shortened should it ever break. Good to know. I've read that the longer one makes a 40 too darty for on the Highway. I've not crunched numbers yet, so I'm not sure. I drive mostly on the street these days (although that may change with power steering). All the trails seem to involve a long highway drive to get to, so highway driveability is important.

A +/- 10" pitman arm will make the steering more responsive than a 6" one. That's straight forward enough, but the math seems complicated to figure out just how much. I may just go out to the garage, and count how many turns it would take, and compare that to stock steering. Idealy I'd like it to be similar to stock, however, I don't want it to be like our Durango which is darn near impossible to steer if the engine stalls (and you loose power assist).

Does the Jeep pitman arm provide more than enough movement to move the wheels to the stops? Do you know how many turns it takes to go stop to stop?

I can measure mine for you... but its a different setup (saginaw) its not bad... I haven't hooked up the pump yet but its easy enough to turn as a manual box so with power it should be great :)

I know that it is fine on the highway although it is MUCH more responsive then when I had the 40 steering ... when I first put it in I was worried... felt like a go-cart compared with stock but I'm used to it and compared with other vehicles its not bad.

I've picked up a pitman arm from Westshore Spring. Jeep part... 5 3/4 c to c & 3" drop. It looks like it'll work just right. Thanks for the tip Helbent.

Helbent, we can work something out for the Scout II pitman arm.
By my quick measurements, the 9.5" Scout arm will make it act like a 3 turn box... rather than the 4.25 turn box it is. I don't want it to be impossible to drive it the P/S fails... or twitchy on the road.

after further thought i wont need it.. thanks though...

got the cable fixed... seems the only place in town that i could find to do it was victoria motorcycle sales aka victoria motorcycle salvage...

so $30 bucks and its done... hopefully it will last another 40 years.. :D

Looking for Powersteering pump brackets for an earily SBC with a long water pump. If they come with a pump even better, but most of them are probably lying around in scrap metal piles.

Of course, also decent P/S lines and an oil cooler... Even some crapy lines for their ends.

I just used the russell ends and hose that you put together yourself... by the time you pay for the ends, line, and someone to put it together its prob roughly the same cost... although I think that princess auto makes pressure lines on the cheap now :)

Not so worried about the hoses right now, I'm sure I can find something off the shelf to fit when the time comes. Brackets seem to be the hard thing to come by... Not that many earily 70s at the wrecking yards anymore.

I am looking for an AC compressor bracket, amplifier, and pulley for a 3b. If anyone has anything let me know.

looking for a horn relay ...
