Hey Guys,

I figured I'd make a thread dedicated to the suspension options from Dobinsons for the FJ55 Land Cruiser. Up until recently, the leaf springs were only sold by special order, and made to order, which took forever, like 6 months or more. They're now stocked in the USA, but unfortunately they're a high price since they're hand formed at the Dobinsons factory in Rockhampton, Australia. There's not enough demand to build jigs to make them by machine like the other popular cruisers, Tacomas, etc.

First off, all parts are priced and listed here: 55 Series (1970-80) Archives - Exit Offroad - https://exitoffroad.com/product-category/toyota/land-cruiser/fj55-series/

Here's a breakdown of each component offered.

Front Leaf Springs
TOY-055F - Sold in pairs, 1.75" (45mm) lift

Rear Leaf Springs
TOY-056R - Sold in pairs, 1.75" (45mm) lift

Front Shocks
GS15-639S - Twin Tube - 492mm extended, 302mm compressed

Rear Shocks
GS59-651 - Twin Tube - 591mm extended, 363mm compressed

Front and Rear Greasable Shackle Kits (same on both ends)
SK59-015 and SK59-016 - greasable design, these do not add lift. They are sold in pairs, one left hand and one right hand side in each pair

Front and Rear Poly Bush Kits (same on both ends)
PB59-1014K - need 2 kits for 1 vehicle. Each kit has 12 half bushings, 6 sleeves, enough for both ends of 2 leaf springs and the top of the shackle

Front U-bolts
UB59-450K X 1 – Front right side u-bolts
UB59-453-3K X 1 – Front left side u-bolts

Rear U-bolts
UB59-453-3K X 2 – both sides

Front Steering Damper
SD59-823 - Big Bore foam cell bolt on replacement

And here is the page for a full kit, with all of those parts and options:

I don't have any photos of this setup installed on any FJ55's here. If you've bought a kit from me or Dobinsons in the past, please post up photos to share!!

You should post this in the 55 section.
I thought it was

Technically, you're both right!

Here is the "pig pen". Likely to get more interested down there as its dedicated to the 55 series.

Well geez, that's extremely hidden!! I've never seen it before.

I'll post up the same info over there as well.

Back in the day, IIRC, 55 rear springs were coveted by 40 owners. Rumor was, they would put the 55 rear springs on the front of the 40, flipped end to end. Because the 55 spring pin is off centered front to rear, the 40 axle is moved forward an inch or two.
If this is still true, your new 55 springs might be an option for a 40 owner who wants a slightly longer wheelbase.

My first thought until I saw the price tag for a pair. He did a great job explaining the price tag --> basically one-off custom units. Im sure there will be some pig owner snagging these up, based on the reviews and feedback from Nolen's builds, these kits and the high end shocks they offer are the best kits on the market for ride quality.

I hate that the leaf springs are priced so high. Luckily the other parts are normal prices.
