Hi everyone,
I'm at the tail end of a huge desmog project (huge for me) and would love some advice on what gets capped or reconnected before I fire my 84 FJ60 up.
I've had the manifolds resurfaced and have everything installed including the Trollhole carb. I've been through 96 pages of great info over on his thread but still have questions as Marshall states to make it simple and pull all hoses except retain the vac line for the dizzy and AC idle up which I have swapped over from the old stock carb. I'm so anxious to get this rolling again and it seems their are so many different desmog instructions out there and Marshall's carb seems to be one of the simplest but that means a lot of hoses are left open. Please see photos for reference. Thank you!!!!
Air cleaner. Marshall mentioned running a line from the charcoal canister. Photo 3 shows the charcoal canister. If I understand his comments in other threads... cap two and run one to the air cleaner or not? I labeled them a,b,c Can you tell me where each one should go to or get capped? Where would you drill or connect the canister line to the air cleaner?
Photo 2 shows a line that I pulled from larger the port on the intake manifold with the cooling fins. Since that is pulled can I yank that whole line off and cap it at the white port on that big black circular vacuum housing? (I think I answered my own question as that hose has to be connected right as it's the brake booster line. If I cap it I'll have stiff breaking or no breaking?)
I have three circular one way valves I’ve pulled during the desmog. Should I place one of these inline from small hole on distributor cap to airfilter? Which port on air filter?
Should I run one of these one way valves in the line coming off the only vacuum hose from the Trollhole carb to side inner port of dizzy as well?
Photo 5 - passengers side you’ll see a hose that has been disconnected and it’s connected to that metal T fitting that is also open. (this hose came from the J tube) Cap hose and metal T?
Photo 6 shows a port that is now open because I yanked that hose out. It’s underneath the master cylinder.
Photo 7 just shows a port on the firewall same area close to master cylinder. Not sure if this should be capped.
BVSV - The original desmog guide said to cap lower BVSV and keep the upper. I'm thinking I need to cap both?
Thank you so much for your help with figuring these things out.
