The shipping industry is well overdue for disruption. I never understood why it costs more to move something than to make something. With that said, with some planning you can keep international shipping cost to 15% of your invoice. It costs $65 to ship a $100 item from U.S. to New Zealand, but you can quite easily ship $1000 worth of goods for $150.

Like any other big business, when they start, like Fed Ex , it is usually pretty good cost wise. As they accumulate hierarchy and liabilities, it becomes a battle for survival. Look at USPS, overburdened with unfunded liabilities and they are really getting "bailed out" by taxpayers.
You are correct they are in need of disruption.

Yeah, but trouble is finding early items in one shot at one place? I remember paying $45 in shipping for a $7 part. But I had to because I was not sure when I will see such a rare part next if I pass this time around.

74 owners rejoice! Doing a little testing. Amazing fit! Seals up nice and tight. Wish I could drive this to test the noise level. Way better than the generic weatherstrip I had on there before.

The lid has been opened. Toyota OEM Koito headlights. Here's the first type:

Here's the second type. I believe the difference is with the bulb, which is supposed to be amber.

Did you end up doing much with the 90981-01017 & 90981-01H00 headlights? It appears they are both 12V

Both are neat replacement lenses and I have the 90981-01017 in a vehicle. The 90981-01H00 seems to be discontinued or currently not in production but I really want to see if I can find a Koito application with a 24V bulb from Toyota much like the 90981-01017 :D

Kurt: Couple more options have popped up from my research: 00234-60H24 below:

Thanks @beno !

I ended up a bunch pairs of Koito lamps, they are Genuine Toyota. They are a 12V and a higher 60/55W, I've got upgrade harnesses to go along with them. They have a slightly different boot than the one you show and the ones @Racer65 had, but they have the same "flat face" of the 90981-01029 it appears.

Not yet... I still need to install the passenger side and then do some testing but it is looking really good right now!

IOW, you’re holding up the show! :p
