Vehicle shipped from California 10+ years ago and always garaged (never driven off road). Vehicle has zero rust and all original components (including original boxed SMOG components if desired).
Body - frame/panels/seals all in excellent shape with no rust. Original undercoating still visible. Glass in good shape and has all appropriate decals. Body nuts/Bolts all in exceptional shape. Exterior paint is later addition in original color. Rating a 9.5 because it has a paint chip here and there, a minor paint run, and minor original ding here and there.

Hello everyone.
I am planning on importing and selling my 1978 BJ diesel back to the US. It was fully restored and built in Costa Rica, and I have had a blast driving it all around the country. I am putting this thread out as a “feeler”.. on if it is worth sending back to the US to sell or if I should keep it here as an extra car as a travel back and forth from New Jersey a few times a year.
As you will see from the pictures, the truck was tastefully modified. I am still in contact with the local Tico, a fellow car enthusiast/restorer, and will update the ad with exact specs of the build soon, but I know a lot of the drivetrain, diffs, etc were beefed up, as well as the suspension obviously.. but I will get specifics.

Selling a red 73 FJ40 with its original engine and transmission that does not run. The truck comes with front steel doors, rear half doors, “1” factory front bucket seat, roll bar, pair of hard top sides, rear hatch, extra rear axle, extra hood, “2” extra pairs of front doors, extra windshield frame, extra piece of windshield glass to replace the broken one on the truck, pair of ambulance doors, and some other extra parts. I have a running 2F engine out of a 84 FJ60 for sale if you wanted to swap in a new engine. The truck was from Alabama so the body and frame are in good shape compared to most truck up this way. It has the original dune beige paint under the red so you can bring it back to the dune beige if you don’t like the patina...

Very cool Cruiser.
Mechanically it has newer shocks, steering stabilizer, fuel pump, fuel filter, starter, alternator, thermostat, plugs and wires, rod bearing for #1 cylinder, oil pan gasket, and fluids for diffs and transfer case. Runs and drives good. Not a speed machine but gets around town just fine. Has a slight knock when starting but goes away in a few seconds. Also, has five speed conversion and correct 2F in-line six cylinder.
In the interior it has new floor insulation up front along with new matting, dash pad cover, correct shifter knobs, and all new door seals...

1977 Toyota FJ40 in great shape, don't have the time to drive it so might as well let someone else enjoy it. It runs and rides great, bought it 2 yrs ago and did a few minor upgrades. Vehicle highlights:
- Old Man Emu suspension kit (shocks and leaf springs)
- Brand new carb, all vacuum lines to pass CA emissions
- Brand new exhaust
- Rebuilt engine - less than 5,000 miles
- New cap, rotar, wires, plugs
- LED headlights (I have the original lights)

1976 FJ40 For Sale
This cruiser is rebuilt mechanically and is a solid driver. Has OEM soft top bows (imported) and a decent soft top (no hard top). It will either need some “patina preservation” to preserve its current look or a paint job.
I am located in Gunnison, CO and I am looking to sell the cruiser in person. Sorry if that is a disappointment for you.

Looks to be original paint. See pics. When the grounds dry I’ll crawl under it and take some more. But it’s clean underneath. Interior has surface rust but no rot spots. See rocker and sill pics, it’s clean.
the motor I can’t turn by hand. I am not sure if it’s seized or stuck. Starter was out when I bought it. Has oil, doesn’t look to have metal flakes.
Front axle is bent. On the drivers side. A spare housing comes with it. I assume it was no longer driven after it was damaged as it’s noticeable when pushing and would definitely be noticeable driving.
Seats are all there. Same with gas tank. I pulled it to wash it out.
