With an AWD truck if you loose traction at 1 wheel you loose drive to all wheels. With the VC in there, if you loose traction at 1 wheel the VC will transfer some drive to the axle that has traction in hopes of helping to drive out. I'd keep it.

I am looking for a viscous coupler for my 94LC. I am the only owner. The truck kicks out on slow turns, even screeches. I understand that is due to a defective viscous coupler. I'd like a new one, but if a used one were said to be good, I might take that. My mechanic wont install it unless it is new. He says he cant get a hold of one but i'm not sure i believe him. Thanks all for your help.

If I get part time hubs and a CDL button and a pin 7 mod, I have to have early short axles or can I machine a groove in the long birfelds and if so does anyone know how may mm back from the first groove does it need to be. I’ve been hoarding good birfeilds.

After doing some research, and deciding to go with Longs for replacement birfields, I went about trying to figure out how to install the Aisin hubs with the longer birfs. After several ideas and decided to go ahead and add another groove to match the location of the shorter earlier birfs. The following pics are of the modified long and the install.
