I was thinking it is time to consolidate and I really like 60 series rigs. Want to trade my 1973 FJ 40 for an exposition styled FJ60. Some musts with the 60: Not a basket case. Strong drivetrain preferably rebuilt, V8 or low miles rebuild. I need to be able to drive this daily from the time of trade. No work required to be reliable. SOA with 33s a plus but could deal with a lift and 31. (tires must be in good shape and have lots of miles on them). Clean and straight body and interior and I do realize there will be a few rust spots but no major cancer (I don't want to have to do a lot of work to make the inside decent...it doesn't have to be perfect, just all there) Roof rack is a must (Con-Ferr type and close to full length)...
:not affiliated: While scouring the kijiji ads happened across this one last night. Not a dream, but possible foundation/DD. No funds for this now as wife backed Tundra into parked sunfire (this after getting backed into while skiing:frown:). So no fun(ds) for me this year as it looks now. Hopefully this helps someone get theirs and I can start building up the karma bank. 1977 Toyota FJ Cruiser I haven't posted a linkback before so let me know if it works or not:beer:
1966 FJ40 in Spring Green - $8200 (los gatos, CA)
For sale is a 1966 Toyota Land Cruiser, known as an FJ40, in rare Spring Green (aka Sea Foam Green). This lil funster has roughly 150k miles and is a near complete original. It runs absolutely smooth, which could equal a daily driver or kept as a classic for the weekends. This model comes with the straight 6 cylinder with the 3spd on the tree and vacuum assisted transfer case for 4 wheel drive. The seats and interior are in excellent shape. Recently refreshed for reliability and drivability. New brake shoes all around. The motor has just been refreshed with new: head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, plugs, valve timing, head was resurfaced including a magnaflux wash and a pressure test, new radiator (brass), cooling hoses, etc. So many...
I have a 1972 FJ40 for sale that is listed on craigslist under the Portland Oregon listings. It is a clean daily driver that has a 4.3L chevy V6 conversion with a T350 tranny bolted up behind it. It has a 4" lift with 33" tires, power steering, roof rack, full size spare, bucket seats, short jump seats in back. It is a lot of fun to drive and it handles well on the street. Here is the link 5gzzm-2955562876@sale.craigslist.org I have a lot of extra parts that are available also. Check it out! I'm asking $6800 OBO but i will entertain possible partial trades and ??
1977 Toyota FJ40 $4,500
I hate to do this.. But it's more than I can do right now and I need the cash. It needs an engine rebuilt and some minor stuff. I have a new wiring harness for it as well. This was a daily driver for a year and a half before the engine issues. I have a ton of pictures and information and history on her. I didn't know what to ask, but I've seen them going for around $6kish. So I priced low due to the engine needing work. I will post more pictures and elaborate more in depth, once I return home tomorrow. If you have any specific questions just ask.

1969 fj40 project
1969 fj40 project PRICE REDUCED!! SOLD-SOLD-SOLD I have a 1969 Toyota FJ40 project vehicle! I originally purchased this cruiser to do a frame up "Off Road" build on it. It has a later model FJ55 engine in it, all mounted up with the radiator and core support all hooked up. I was told by the previous owner that the engine ran fine a few years ago, but have never tried to start it as I was planning a V-8 swap. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this cruiser as a project, I have just decided to go domestic and am building a blazer! It also has a factory manual trans and transfer case behind it. It is basically a rolling chassis right now as most of the body parts have been taken off for the build. It has factory drum brake...
Near Allentown, PA Have PA titles for both but they are in parts. Here is the story, Started as a 1979 fj40 I drove on the road legally, clean title. It ran great, has a new fibrrglass tub, but frame was rusted bad and it wouldnt pass inspection So I bought a 1972 frame and totally resurfaced it. In the middle of this I bought a 1975, clean title, with original 25k miles, which was in good shape, but had a 400 Pontiac motor/th400 trans swapped in it. The seller kept the motor, but I got everything else. I then bought a similar pontiac 400, bored .060 over. Now my plan was to use the fiberglass tub on the 1975 frame using the 400/th400. So I resurfaced the frame of this one, because it had the 400 motor mounts already in place...
I am looking for an FJ40 from 76 on. I will be using it to drive the family to baseball games and around town on nice days. Mimimal rust and not too out of stock condition is preferred. If I can find the right rig, I have a decent budget. $15-$20k type condition. I am new to the site and it has already saved me from several mistakes. Thanks for all the help.
What's this FJ 40 worth
I have been looking for a 76+ FJ40 while reading threads and talking to other owners. I am looking at buying a 1981 with 94k miles, no top, has full doors and half doors. 2.5 old man emu lift. Appears to be very clean but not a frame off restoration. I plan to have it inspected and compression tested. I can provide additional details ut didnt want the first post to be too long. Picture attaced. Thanks for the help.
Hey, was previously looking at this one in CA but couldn't make a deal and guess we weren't even close. If for no reason other than to educate myself as I look to buy my first FJ, what do you guys think it's worth? Toyota : Land Cruiser Toyota : Land Cruiser - eBay (item 320878387068 end time Apr-04-12 20:04:18 PDT) The search continues...thanks for the tips I've picked up watching these boards.
Looking for a 75-83 FJ40. I have a list of what I am looking for. I think full restorations are well out of my budget, but something that still has a straight body and frame with very little rust would make a good starting point. First-time Land Cruiser buyer, any advice would be appreciated. Looking in the $10,000-$12,000 range, but somewhat flexible. Engine: 2F, running good Trans: stock 4 speed Hardtop: 75-83 hardtop, and hard doors Rear Fenders: uncut Rear Quarters: would prefer no diamond plate (worried about rust) Rust: minimal and reparable by an amateur Suspension: prefer stock but a lift is okay Paint: any color, original and heavily faded is fine Distance: serious buyer at any distance
This cruiser spent most of its life in Palm Springs so there is almost no rust. I am third owner and have just had carb rebuilt, new gas tank CCOT, and new radiator due to this thing sitting for many years. It is equipped with dealer installed A/C but compressor is missing everything else is there. It runs and drives great but will not pass visual smog inspection in California. Crappy bondo on passenger door. E-mail for photos. asking $9850 OBO Matt 4xmatt@gmail.com
