I know this has been asked before, but I haven't seen any good pictures yet.

Thinking about getting disc brake fj40 wheels for my 62, but I'm worried that 15" is too small (asethetically) and 5.5" may be too narrow for my 33x10.5's making the tires bulge out.

I would go for the split steelies, but I don't to kill anyone or myself, or deal with tubed tires.

Need pictures of peoples 60's with fj40 wheels WITHOUT hubcaps!!

here are 36x12.5 on late model non hubcap style rims on my old 83 fj60. 33x10.5s work great on stock 5.5 rims...that's what i'm running on one of my 55s...i've got hubcaps on there though;)

Will have pics of my set up tomorrow or next day. Stock 40 rims (5.5) and caps with 33/10.5/15 BFG ATs.

***On a side note. I ordered my tires from Discount Tire and planned to have them mounted there as I have before NUMEROUS times (same set up). I brought my wheels when my tires came in and they said they couldn't mount them on anything narrower than 6.5" wheels. Fine! Whatever! F**K! I ask to be refunded the amount for mount and balance and just sell me the tires. They informed me that they could no longer sell me the tires knowing what I was going to mount them on. REALLY!?!

Bought them online and shipped them to a "mom and pop" shop that said "sure thing, do it all the time!" All in all only cost me $30 more.

I had some 31x10.50 15s mounted on 15x6 steelies for my K5. I said nothing to them about the wheels and I paid for the tires. When it came time to pick them up, I took possession of the tires and then asked to mount them on the wheels. I was told they only mount the tires on the recommend wheel widths set forth by the tire company. I spoke to the manager and they went ahead and mounted my tires. I'll be going back to the same Discount tire. Already purchased 3 sets of BFG KOs there since.

Talked to the manager as well. Asked him to pull up past purchases (3 years). Just shy of $10K. Reminded him that all the business was walking out the door with me and not coming back. Made no difference. Just like everywhere else, if the screen in front of them says NO, it is an impossibility.

I am keeping my steelies black as my 60 is silver and the stock gray might look funny.

I'm doing black too. Can't wait to check it out. You have a suspension lift on it?

They really make the cruiser pop. Picking up my first LC this weekend and found a set of stock steelies that I plan on picking up on the return drive. Owner wants $400... thoughts on this price for the quality?

New from the dealer they're like 150 ea.
So 80 each for wheels that need striped and painted isnt so much a good deal.
Plus you needed to make sure they arent the riveted type.
