I started out to make some canvas half doors that resembled the oem soft doors but offered more protection off road. The tubing used is .120 wall 1” round and 1x3”. Once the lower frame was finished I thought about trying to graft the upper window portion of the oem soft doors onto the lower frames. After cutting and grinding a little I managed to get the upper and lower sections to fit into the door frame pretty well. I had to make some hinges due to the 1” round stock that I used which positioned the door more outboard than oem.

The oem weather stripping that runs along the outside edge provides some good tension once closed. I need to add some more support in the middle of the lower doors, add lower window slides, and some trimming, but they’re almost finished.

The upper and lower sections join using two pieces of L-channel. The lower piece secures the top edge of the canvas and bolts into the door frame. The upper piece bolts over the lower and uses the same holes for mounting.

when do you start production in mass quanity's?
they look good Randy

Thanks for the comments.

when do you start production in mass quanity's?
If you can call one pair of doors per year mass production, then I'm ready to go. :grinpimp: It would be cool to come up with a similar design that could be stamped out of steel and then weld on the smaller parts. There's got to be an easier way to make them.

how does the window work?
The windows will slide up and down exactly like the oem soft doors. I still need to cut and mount the lower section of the window sliders to the lower half door. The upper sliders are already in place.

it's about time :D
No kidding!

These doors are amazing.. i saw them in person last weekend.. absolutely no rattle and they open and close with ease.. innovative work Randy!
