There was a post on here a while back that had a pic of a simple hood lock made of 2 L brackets. I did a search and couldn't locate the post with the pics. If someone has a pic of the latch with a lock I would much appreciate it.
Thanks Brad

That's odd because I did a search for hood lock also and got a mixed search result. I got numerous other results besides some of the ones on theft, truck security etc. Maybe I just missed it. Thanks again.

Do you have more detail on how it installs. Is it a cable release from inside of the cab? My preference is for one that requires a key to unlock.

A part number, and some details on installation - a bolt-in would be sweet!

I made mine today. Bought a couple of Ls at the hardware store, cut and ground them to length. Used a couple of SS machine screws on each piece to mount. Still got to find a lock and drill the lock hole. I think with the right lock this would be hard to get at with a pair of bolt cutters.

heres some info of an O.E.M. hood lock . cable release . 82-84 bj40

Good day,

Can you tell me if you can get the cable, bracket, handle and clip to hold the cable? or the complete part numbers?

I have the complete system, but looking to install it into my resto and would like to have new pieces.

Thanks,

Shane

Hood pins

I put locking hood pins on mine. Cost about 25 bucks. Look pretty good IMO.

That photo has given me some great ideas on how to kick it up a notch. I'll post photos after I machine the two pieces.

dude, coming from you.... I expect it to kick ass. you seem to be on top of the cool mods and what not and do take them to a new level.

FWIW, I think this guys idea is a good one as it is clean and simple.... so wonder how you will improve it??

(BTW, still working on that Nalgene reservoir... square version is done and working on mount. :) )

any updates on other locks people have used? I am in need of a lock on my 73 fj40.
