I now have the stock "77" running ....barely, It starts fine, it will idle but it seems fuel delivery is blocked. Looking down into the carb when running and working the throttle only one side seems to be getting fuel, is there a way I can open a jet, or clean it out with out removing the carb? I tried to pull the carb yesterday. I had it all disconected, pulled the two large bolts but the carb would not budge so I reconnected it started it up again no difference, it gets fuel, there is fuel in the viewing glass. I just think it is plugged, gummed up somewhere, I think a proper rebuild is beyond me, I was wondering who would be the best to get a GOOD rebuild from ...any in Canada at a fair price. I am totally new to the FJ40 world so please excuse my dumba$$ questions. thanks in advance.

Paging Jim (FJ40Jim) or Mark (65swb45)......

These two guys are the gurus of Cruiser Carbs.

Thanks bsmith123 I forgot to say I sprayed carb cleaner in and around carb, carb and injector cleaner in the carb but after reading the link I think I have more gunk in there than I had hoped for I will try removing front drain plugs and blowing out with compressed air, still trying to figure out why carb would not come off I want to avoid hitting it with an FBH ...I tend to do that when I get frustrated! I may be in the marlet for a godd rebuild by someone that knows what they are doing. Quality rebuilders anyone?
Thanks.

rebuild

fj40jim did mine and it started up w/o adjusting and runs like a champ

Mark has a good rep on mud as well

see the post above and pm one of them

The secondary barrel will not flow fuel when running in the driveway. Only under a heavy load.

The two big bolts you removed only hold the carb main body to the carb throttle body. Please put them back and step away from the carb.
The four 12mm nuts that need removed are lower down.

Start with, what are the conditions that led you to believe the carb was your problem? Because your foot was attached to it?
