Brown, you think the 250 is an improvement over the 150?
A lot of 150 petrol version were sold with naturally aspirated V6's. The small ICE with turbo and hybrid in the 250 is more complex. Maybe the diesel versions are more similar, then again DPF emission systems have messed up their reliability.
Also do you have info saying the 250 drive train has more strength, durability and spare capacity compared to the 150?
I am not necessarily convinced Toyotas designed in the nineties and early two thousands by 99.9% Japanese teams focused on building high quality vehicles are less conservative than the recent designs from a more global group (apparently engineers from the US were involved...), with a political push woven in there (EPA, mpg targets) and marketing derailing newer designs, resulting in Engineers having to compromise.
