Ordered an orange fob last night and am excited to replace the broken plastic on the original key. I dont think I have ever changed the battery in either remote since I bought the truck in 2007. Can you refer me to what battery I need and if it is difficult to open up the remote?

Thanks,

T-Bro

Thanks for the order! I expect it to ship later this week.

CR1616 battery is what you want and you just need an eyeglass screwdriver (Philips) to open the remote. If you have an aftermarket remote then it may be a clip-on style back, but the OEM ones should all use screws.

I bought one of these awhile back and forgot to post about it: It's great!!

Assembling it made me feel old with the tiny screws and what not. I could not find a CR1616 battery the night I assembled it so I used the one one. Genius I know.

About the battery - where do you find the worlds tiniest screwdriver to take off the cap that holds the battery?

The screws on that battery cover are crazy small. I have multiple small screwdriver kits and my smallest driver is barely small enough to grab the screws. It needs a #0 or smaller. A jeweler's kit like this is probably the best thing you can easily buy for it. http://amzn.to/2BT36Aw

Our's shattered last night. No hint that there was anything wrong with it... and of course it didn't do it at my apartment it did it at a gas station.... managed to somehow squeeze it all together in that tights space with enough force to start the truck again.

Talked to Andy today getting a new one overnighted here since its my wife's DD and my car is 50 miles away in storage (walk to work)

Thanks for the help and prompt service @suprarx7nut

I'm glad the overnight shipment worked out on this! USPS was sandbagging a little and couldn't guarantee next day arrival when I dropped it off, but they did end up making it.

FYI for other folks, it looks like overnight shipping is a pretty consistent $30-40 for domestic shipments. If you've got something urgent, reach out to me via PM or email and we'll see how fast I can get something out for you. FedEx can guarantee AM next day deliveries, but the price triples or more.

I've got a pretty good inventory now so bring on the orders! Most everything is shipping in a few days.

Got the fob last night and put it together. What a great upgrade! However, the remote had CR 2016 batteries, which are larger than the 1616 you said would fit. Anyone need 1616 size batteries? Happy to send them along cheap!

Even my wife, who shows no interest in my LC addiction. thought is was a very cool upgrade.

Best regards,

Todd

Well that's annoying, sorry about that! I just checked my testers the clear faced remote has a 2016CR battery. The more common black faced remote has 1616. I should have known that, my bad!
Andy,

No worries! Dont mind making a mistake that costs under $3 and hope that someone needs the smaller batteries and I can make someones day!

dup. stupid phone.

Very nice!

The most recent grey ones I'm getting from my printer are coming in with a more "battleship grey" color and I love it!

Also, nice Tekmat ;)

I'm thinking about ordering one today...I was pretty set on Orange, but do you happen to have a pic of these new grey ones? Sounds interesting!

Sure, here are some pictures of the new (current) grey color. The old one was a little darker and had more variation in shade. This new one is a little lighter and more consistent.

Oh wow I really like that. I am using an amazon key which I trust even less than an OEM key so this is a must.

Decided on orange for both visibility and to represent my Alma Matter, Oklahoma State University! Great product. Yet another awesome vendor willing to support our niche vehicles!

I got mine a few weeks back but only had enough courage to break the key out of the shell until last week! It bolted on really nicely.

Before I did this, I had a secondary key made (with remote) but it is a generic from Amazon. The remote works like the oem but uses a dif battery and isn’t exactly like the oem. My question is, has anyone broken this key? If so, does it bolt on to the Yotamd shell?

since I invested enough to have cut and programmed I would like to protect it with one of these shells.
