My FHT SWB was built in 3/64 according to Spector's charts.

It has a 65 brass tag that was typical of vehicles sold after the VIN plate date.

It is titled now and was titled originally as a 66. I went to have it changed and it's a big hairy deal. I just got the original license plate for the vehicle that has 66 stamped on it.

What do I call it?

If it's a 66, then it's a vehicle that is two years newer than the last one they made.

I'd call it a '64 since that is when it rolled off the line..... and referring to it that way helps keep a chronological order of the all the little changes Toyota made from year to year

6 of one, half dozen of the other.

Great thing is that if you go to sell it on EBAY, you can wave your arms and call it the last LV ever made!!! Got to be worth MILLIONS!!!

Among the people who know and like these trucks, its value shouldn't be based upon some arbitrary date assigned by a government body, or a date when a dealer decided to sell it. Its value is for what it truly is--a 1964 truck.

There are many vehicles in the U.S. registered as a different date than manufactured--often to keep the smog Nazis and safety cretins from forcing alterations to the original product--both gray-market and black-market vehicles. They are enjoyed by their owners, who know to keep their mouths shut about the rare and often exotic vehicles they drive. They, and other afficianados, really know what they have, so who cares about some numbers and dates anyway?

Enjoy your truck, and don't waste your time trying to reason with your local DMV !

if it helps, annie is a 62 with a 63 title. we call her a 62 :meh:
