So ..... here we go ........
I'll start by saying that I'm not much of a social media person, or big poster. I enjoy reading about builds and get some good ideas from these posts but am not crazy about showing off my stuff or fishing for validation. Likewise the criticism and sarcasm turns me off since we all have our reasons for the way that we build stuff and no two people like or need the same modifications.
This is my build:
June 2022 while perusing the flea market adds on ADVrider I saw a 1999 LC100 advertised. From what was advertised, it appeared to be a good foundation for a build (which is what I was looking for). The seller stated that "this is no show vehicle and the interior is less than good, but mechanically sound". He was asking $10,500 with 289,000 miles. Frame pictures looked rust free and there were two small rust areas on the body. Several small dents & scratches, the the paint was sub par, but it wasn't "that" bad. So I messaged him and told him that I was interested but not at 10,500. Wished him luck with the sale and told him that I didn't want to insult him but if he ever got to the point of accepting $7,500 I'd be a buyer. With in hours, he got back to me and said he'd take it.
I'm in Illinois, the LC was in Florida, so we made arrangements and I flew to Orlando, he brought the LC to the airport, did the deal, and I drove it home.
It had an OME suspension lift, an Ironman front bumper, and 10,000lb winch.
On the way home, I quickly became aware that the shocks were junk, and the brakes were in need of attention. But everything was as I expected and was super pleased with the purchase. The cheap seat covers hid the interiors deficiencies
Got home, put it in the garage and proceeded to have some fun. It was not to be driven on the road again until this week, 9 months later.
