Xmas Wheeling?

Here's another idea, for another day: on the way to the intersection of FR1878 with FR160 (west off Beeline, and away from the main Sycamore drag), there's a right turn; the pic below is about 50 ft after that turn. How about we turn left instead of right, and check it out?

Methinks that is FR1877 or somesuch... we've been in there a few years ago, the road skirts the mountainside with a bunch of steep and rutted hillclimbs - we turned around when I discovered I'd lost a u-joint retainer clip on the front axle, and the cap was about to walk out from the joint... I'm not sure that trail connects to anything higher up the mountain and might just be a dead end, i.e. same way out...

Might be in for some fun

BTW Carl clear some space in your PM box....you have a spacer lift sitting around??

I was just thinking that i need to do some house cleaning:hillbilly:

Rob - I donated the spacer lift to Dan & Jessa (4Jessa on the Blue Forum) long ago. Kevin does have my old OME Heavy (886?) Rear Springs that can are available. They are pretty stiff without a load:bounce:, so I replaced them with the Mediums:clap:

Log Corral looks like it would be great fun south to north I was on it north to south yesterday.

I drove by your house yesterday on the way home from the parents and noticed the 06 was gone.

What are your impressions so far with the electronic suspension after the field testing? Any tweaking with settings, or?

Electronic suspension is cool - TRAC is Worthless

Howdy! I'm thinkin Packsaddle/Bulldog on Saturday, 12/26. I can get up to the Rangers office and get my permit before Thursday. John

Can you call and see if permits can be issued without everybody being there in person? For a Saturday run, it would be good if anyone who wanted to go could and some may not be able to get the permit?

Permit. Can not get.

Might be a non-issue if my spacers don't get here by then anyway.

I'll work on it in the morning. If we get lucky, I can take all the ID info up there and get us set up. John

IIRC the policy is they must be issued in person. A few years ago for the night run they allowed us to pickup permits for those that couldn't get there in person. They need the license plate of the rig and name/drivers license number of the driver(s).

Yea, I remember you saying that. I spent most of yesterday helping two Tonto Rangers on a project. I hope maybe I have some "good carma points" to pull this off. Wish me luck. John

Would it help to pm you our info?

IF I can make this work, yea, I'll post up for everyone that MIGHT make it to give me the info, and then I can get the permits on Weds. John

We may be running Sedona redrock/pink jeep tour run. I have no real plan in place other than I have family in town who are staying in Sedona over the holidays and want to wheel...

I will also be in Sedona but unsure if the 80 is going with me. If so, I'l let you know and maybe we can get a trail in. I'm all stock.

Now,, for the bad news. First, the bad news: The wonderful gentleman at the F.S. counter said absolutely NO WAY could I get permits for anyone else. So, the policy for Bulldog is to minimize access by not letting anyone have a permit. If you work 9 - 5, and you want a permit, then you have to take a long lunch, call in sick, send the wife, send a kid, or whatever, or stay home, too bad( these were his suggestions)!! I did get a permit for myself, but for the rest of you, good luck. I would get on the phone to Art Wertz, The District Ranger, at 480-610-3300 and raise a bunch of Hell about this whole setup. It really stinks. The whole National Forest will be using permits pretty soon, but you can't get one!! Talk about controlled access!!!!

Even more bad news, for me. We blew up a machine this week, and the only chance we have to rebuild it is Saturday, so now that I DO have a permit, I can't go if anyone still makes this trip. John

Yep, that what I always been told, twice have been able to talk them into exceptions. Once Phil and I were able to get them for a bunch of members and the other I got one for someone who wasn't there.

The best bet is to do this trail on a day when the ranger station is open?

Or get the permit in advance. The are good for 6 months. John

so are we wheeling something else on the 26th

I was trying to avoid having to wrench on the cruiser :hillbilly:
