Xmas Wheeling?

I was thinking of getting the family out somewhere scenic before I take off to Dallas. Not looking for anything serious as I really don't want any worries leaving the truck behind with the wife driving it. (read no damage). In the trees somewhere?

We're all off till New Years so timing isn't a big deal.

I was thinking of running Packsaddle again? We did a quick checkout run of it last year after running Willow Springs and looked promising. It's in the Bulldog Canyon area, so would need to do it on a day when the ranger station is open to get the free permits.

Looks nice, no problem unlocked? The pix above, are they typical, easiest stuff, or the hardest on the trail? Not trying to wuss out just don't feel like repairs a week before leaving.

the most difficult things you see on those pics were the most difficult things

IIRC the pix of Rob in the water and the climb are both optional, more challenging lines. I would rate it as stocker friendly with optional more aggressive play lines.

We may be running Sedona redrock/pink jeep tour run. I have no real plan in place other than I have family in town who are staying in Sedona over the holidays and want to wheel...

Kevin are you locked in the 26th-27th weekend or are you possibly considering the 2nd-3rd? By the New-Years weekend, the out of towners will have left. :meh:

As of now, I'm working thru the holidays:mad: With luck I may be able to get in a run Sat the 26. Probably can't make the NY Rug Road run either...:frown:

Not locked to anything, hope to wheel whenever possible.:D

we are leaving on the 4th - just sayin'

I rather do the 26th...leaving on the 2nd for the fun drive through West Texas.

I like the packsaddle idea anytime during the week between Christmas and New Years. I only have a commitment on the 29th, just to be around town.
So are we saying the 26th-27th??

Might be in for some fun

BTW Carl clear some space in your PM box....you have a spacer lift sitting around??

So how about Packsaddle on the 26th... come in via Bulldog Canyon (FR10); no shenanigans on the ledge :hillbilly: :wrench: :wrench: :wrench: on the way out... although it's a good place to break, it's close to Hwy 88...:D

I'd say stocker-friendly, (:flipoff2:), really nice scenery, choice point to continue to Packsaddle or drive out to AJ.

Alternative: come in from AJ/Hwy 88, drive Bulldog on the way out if there's time.

Speaking of time, I need to get my truck out of truggy jail first anyways...

And for clarification: does anyone know how far one can drive in at Packsaddle... word'o-mouth is that the side washes are off-limits anyways, and that the trail may stop at the creek bed where the rock slabs are - of course that is third party hearsay?? If we have time, I'd like to see whether the trail does meet up with the Willow Springs trail/wash...

That's sig-worthy - but she once studied philosophy...

Oh, and with respect to the 26th: maybe for reasons of adequate departure time I should just leave my truck in jail, ride with her, and take a Xanax...
