What are you taking about He got the best dressed award while changing it on the river floor with me, jim and steve:flipoff2:

lol

I still felt bad. I saw some pics that other people had posted of GSMTR. Someone had a pic of the bottom of a cruiser with the 3rd missing on a trail. I was hoping it wasn't Bill. But it turned out it was. Made me feel even worse.:frown:

Damn funny! True nuff I paid for my lack of priorities that trip - new better to run that krap. Here I am 6 months, and I just finally started makining templates for the axle plates at Jim's this past Tuesday. Don't feel sorry for me though - was a hilarious trip :flipoff2: .

Let me know when you guys are getting together.

wrap bar update...
I should have updated this a while back. The rear top 5/8" heim I used is toast. The ball popped out of the socket, causing it to oval out and the ball doesnt stay in it anymore. I am going to cut out the thread insert thingy and run a larger size, prob the same size as i am running upfront.

Tubing is still holding strong though. After busting my last one, I am glad I went with uber thick materials. Smashing this thing on rocks- so far so good.

cheers-
Dustin

Here is the one I built.Sort of the Sams Offroad style. The bar is 1.5x.25 tube and the bushing eyes are DOM.The bolts on the axle end are 3/4 and at the frame they are 9/16.There is a Johnny Joint at the frame mount. The frame mount is all 1/2" cold rolled.

Nice Fry, My only reccomendation would be try to get it more centered on your axle.

Aw come awn, that was the day I finished it :D

I ran it so far off to one side because I dont have alot of free space under there. But it works great.I get zero wrap now and no more binding pinion issues and ruining springs:grinpimp:

Chris

Anybody start with one of these?

Frizzlefry,
looks like a good bar.
question- did you think about running the johnnyjoint at the frame end of that shackle? It seems to me like there will be alot of bind on that bar when your axle flexes, and that having the johnny joint on the frame side would allow the frame side of the wrap bar to sit in the same plane as the axle when its flexing.

cheers!

I never thought about that really.I have alot of articulation travel (like almost 30" full stuff to full droop in the rear) and I dont get any bind that I can tell.I checked the shackle movement and for bind with a fork lift one corner at a time when I finished the bar.And I still had some room to twist it :D

Got flex? ;p

i like the one i had built, stupid simple like these and mine ran almostthe same angle as the rear drive shaft, i can not even begin to count how many time that silly little bar acted as a good slide and prevent my drive shaft from bends. all great designs pick one and go with. as long as it works. lol

Frizzlefry/Chris,
Ever consider maiking these to sell as a kit? I am interested.

Nope :D

I hardly have time to build what I build for myself ;p

Please tell me what you think of this set-up. Over here in Australia I have had most people tell me that you don't need a shackle, but you guys run one on just about every set-up. will my set-up limit articulation or cause binding?

It looks good except for the lack of distance between the ends of the tubes at the axle. The more distance there, the stronger.

So you don't think it's an issue without a shackle hanging off the front?
