Would this axle work for my FJ?

Looking to swap out the rear axle for one with disc brakes. Would this fit the bill on a 1970 FJ40?

Rear axle from an 88 4 Runner V6 3.0 4x4. 4.10 gear. Complete axle assembly with brakes.

Assuming your FJ has the stock transfer case, this wouldn't work very well since the 4runner axle has a centered rear differential. Your stock Land Cruiser axle has a offset (to the passenger side) rear diff. It wouldn't make for a very good driveline.

This one i'm actually not intending to keep as a four wheel drive. I've got a vortec and automatic to put in it. Its completely flat where I live and saltwater + fj is not a good idea so its not going to the beach.

Well if you're not planning to use the stock t-case then the centered diff from the 4runner will work just fine.

the potential future owner(s) of your truck will curse you and spend lots of money and effort to undo your bastardization. adapters are relatively inexpensive when you look at the whole picture.

Removing the 4 wheel drive capabilities from an FJ40? why in the world would you accept the shortcomings of these rigs while doing away with the strengths anyway. Buy something more suitable for what you want. Like maybe a Fiat Spyder?

I think I will buy a DC-6... then take the wings off, since I do not want to fly it anyway.

Mark...

I think if you took the wings off a DC-6 it would fall on its a$$ because the landing gear is positioned on the wings. You'd be better off with a C-130 because the landing gear is on the fuselage.... What were we talking about?
