That is very high- that would concern me enough to consider adding a fan. Might also check your radiator for patches of bent fins, or other external restrictions like fins clogged with dirt, sand, bugs (all of the above) maybe doing a pressure test, and checking for internal scale thats potentially causing a flow restriction or blockage. Might be time for a new radiator. For reference, Im averaging a consistent 195-198 in 95 degree ambient temps, but it has gone as high as 202 momentarily and I think my average running temps are a little high.
Interesting that none of the aftermarket cruiser parts retailers offers an optional fan kit. Seems a well thought out kit would do well.
Are you guys using pusher or puller fans? Thinking a puller would be better. Challenge is getting the the fan shroud close to the radiator surface so it pulls air through the radiator instead of from the sides with out resting the shroud on the radiator fins- which will rub through the fins and cause a leak.
FWIW If you're experimenting with a fan set up, I have found SPAL fans to be very reliable in harsh conditions: cold, hot & wet environments. If you dont know about SPAL, they are an Italian manufacturer supplying OEM to the Auto/Moto/Military segments. Many options redly available online. (amazon)
