You going to weld up a new bumper? It would be a awesome first project.

And glad you got rid of the smitty. Nothing good ever came from them.

Especially when it’s wheeled as hard as this one had been before me! Both lower passenger tube ends were broken off and patch welded closed.

My friend swung by today w/ a metal plate for the welding table. He got it from his work, welder by trade so tons of easy access to metal... his coworker asked him ‘what ever happened to flowers and candy?’ He responded with ‘this girl isn’t like that.’ It’s 1/8”.... and an extra hood he didn’t need. Anxiety is mounting! But yeah your number two to ask if I’ll make a bumper. You guys have all the confidence in the world in me. Yikes!

Nice-Looks like an autodark helmet. A good score. Much easier to use.

You could also consider a @Fourrunner rear bumper kit as an excellent and useful first project where the metal is all precut.

The hood I bought from HF is the same but w/o as many modes.
And I looked at that fourrunner page but I see no way to get more info, just photos.

Rule #1 Don't F*** up
Rule #2 See rule #1
Rule #3 Throw it away because you didn't pay attention to rules #1 and #2
Perfect.

That it is. Took the advice of... crap name is escaping me. Cleaning paint and cutting pieces for the table. I can now see the pro to having two angle grinders. Swapping discs sucks. Also flap wheel so far is my fav for cleaning down to shiny metal, way better than a wire wheel.

Not to be bossy or anything but welding casters onto the table could be your first welding lesson. ;)

Not bossy at all. Im ahead of you... I’m adding the cross pieces too under the top and one or two more across side to side. Casters are in the plan as well.

Pfftt! You are a funny guy Toni, must be being a New Yorker eh?
So first pass, ugly buggers. Second pass far better.
Not nearly as scary as I thought. Sweater is off (so glad it’s overcast and in the low 70’s) and starting to enjoy myself.

Ugly as heck but they’re holding. Ran out of flux core and had to run out for a new roll. Ace was out and it was 2pm on the dot, Bruce one of the guys at the new Napa building was just flipping the closed sign when I pulled it. He let me in while we both joked about me always being the last customer of the day. New 2lb spool of Forney, $20. So in one day figure out how to weld well enough and replace a new spool.
Neighbor across the way shows up out of the blue looking for a spark plug socket for a power washer (of my two avail Nissan or Yota, winner was the 3/16th yota) and gives me a high five to the first time welding. :)

Casters and it’s done. Not entirely sure about the ones on the bed frame but not tossing the idea of using them either. Flap wheeling the edges... I know it’s not the safest but I might just trim the edge in gorilla tape or some kind of padding.
