I think I’m going to make my own dedicated set. I don’t like the ones I have.

Stop!!! You are taking advantage of me now. I need to go to a Land Cruiser Anonymous meeting club and break my addiction.

I thought this is a turbo owner thread. I am interested in what the MPG’s are and hopefully it doesn’t turn into that other conversational piece.

If and when I have my kit installed, please ignore the stupid cheesy grin when we all meet as if you are a hot chick greeting me at the airport. The thought of a run with multiple vehicles hitting this turbo milestone will be orgasmic.

Everything discussed is all about the turbo.
Yup, everything and anything related to the Turbo. The threads meant to help owners with tips and tricks. @Ronny Grady useful tip was the skinny minny 10AN wrench to help tighten the bottom oil drain line. It's a B***** to get to with it bolted up. It's a much needed tool for Turbo owners!

In my Amazon wish list.....

Wait, are you trying to tell me these vehicles are suppose to be driven hard and put away wet? Not parked up in random muddy fields for everyone to look at the same bits and bobs and talk about paint colors????

I never put away wet. I wash, dry, vacuum, and wipe her down everytime. 😁

I think it might be time for a new thread to be created. "Wits End Turbo Owners" thread

One thing to mention is I would also like to get with other Turbo owners and compare turbo differences and setups. I'm interested in learning everyones real world turbo mpg and any new tips or things to look out for with the turbo. What I really want to know if how much a difference is it from a factory transmission to a transmission with Transgo installed. I kind of wish I did a baseline with new engine + turbo first and then did the Transgo shift kit to see how much it changed. I'll settle for either riding passenger or driving someone's non Transgo Turbo rig (in exchange of course so we can both can drive each others rig too see if it made any difference). It would also be cool to see how much faster a Turbo 80 on a diet is than my fat pig 80.

So post them up here:

1. Real world MPG stats with your Turbo. List your tire size, gear ratio, any other mods to help/hurt MPG and how heavy she is!
2. Tips, tricks or anything cool you learned about your 80 Turbo?
3. Transgo Shift kit? Did you install one? Did you notice a change with before and after?
4. Turbo Owner Meetup?

Summary:
MPG Section:
Heckraiser 14.9mpg on 265s
Ronny Grady 11mpg to 14.7mpg 35s 4.88s armored
Joey's Test Mule 3 - 13.88 adjusted mileage for his 35s on 4.10s

Tools Section:
10AN Wrench for bottom return oil hose. Note: Joey is making a special one for the Turbo. But this will do for now.

Tip Section:
Don't use any teflon tape, sealer or anything on the AN line. Don't ask me how I know. *SMH*
Keep an eye out for the AN oil feed line on top of the turbo. Bad crimp. It would leak right away if it's defective. Joey sent another one ASAP.
Dual Batteries - Briano is using a NAPA Washer Bottle Part #665-1594

When ever I install mine I will wait to do the transmission kit. I have it on the tool box but would also like to drive both. Will let you know.

Hmm fuel issues. Have you ever changed your fuel pump or filter yet?

I have not so that is definitely a possibility. Pre-rebuild it was doing the same main symptom where on cold starts if fires right up then stumbles and stalls. Restart and everything is fine. I thought initially it was the fuel injectors. But I had them serviced during rebuild. Professionally cleaned not replaced as they must be made of gold or something. $1100 for the set of 6.

And in true form, now that I want to diagnose it it fired perfectly this morning.

Pinch the fuel return hose right next to the fuel filter. It it gets better and stops stumbling then its your fuel pump going out. Not enough pressure to feed your truck. Pinching it off tight raises the fuel pressure and puts extra fuel to your engine. Hence the reason it helps smooth it out when your fuel pump is almost dead.

When you do the fuel pump. Do the fuel filter at the same time. I would also do the FPR IF you going turbo. Nothing worse then lean on boost. Unless you want to blow to motor

Thanks, I will try that as its a simple test.

Corbet, have you replaced the fuel pressure regulator?

I have not but need to check my parts list from the engine rebuild to see if it got done then. But I don’t recall him asking me or recommending it.
