I ran a 21 circuit painless for my cruiser, it was pretty easy. The most difficult part is the hazard/turn signal situation, but that isn't bad at all. Granted, I like wiring, but anyone could do it pretty easily. The only problem I ran into was some bad wiring on one flasher circuit (from painless), as I was originally going to convert to separate hazard flasher and turn signal flasher like most modern cars, but need up going the Toyota route with only one flasher driving both through the hazard switch.

the Painless instructions for the brake master cylinder switch sensors are incorrect

if I were to need an OEM-like harness, I would contact @Coolerman to make me one

I got a quote to have a new one custom made in Australia for my 4/72 FJ40. It was $2250 AUD or about $1600US + shipping. You can contact Sales@mrlandcruiser.com

@Coolerman helped me put together a harness in a 73 fj40 that had been in a forest fire. He provided proper colored wires, connections, tough love, etc. Everything I’ve purchased from him has been perfect.

Great. Thanks for info! I Looked at the 40 tonight & I think I’ve got enough to work with but I think Coolerman may be a great resource for any connections I may be missing.

I built a harness about 10 years ago and forgotten more than I remember about it. It was a complete scratch hot rod build with all toggle switches, Molex, and Weather Pack connectors. I would like to do something more factory in appearance on the 40. You guys using the Painless kits, how are you dealing with the connectors for stuff like the steering column harness, turn signal/ignition or dash switches? Are you cutting the Toyota ones off and replacing with generic connectors?

I cut all my surviving toyota out and used that, or I used GM weatherpak connectors.

Thanks. Yeah, many of my connectors are crumbling. I'll see what I can salvage.
