That canvas paint comes in a pretty cool range of canvassy colours. Usually paint on canvas will rot it, but if that stuff is specially made for that particular purpose, it will be interesting to see how it goes.

I've used nikwax before on outdoor equipment and I'm not really a fan of it - doesn't last long enough in a tropical environment.

A post on the LR Forum mentioned a product called Mystox - Correct product name is Mystox TRP. Turns out the Pommy army couldn't afford any new tents, so they set about reproofing and re-colouring all their old ones. Mystox TRP is the stuff they chose to do the job. It restores waterproofness, refreshes colour, makes it anti-fungal, adds flame retardation as well as IRR (so the canvas isn't quite so shiny under night vision).

This MIGHT be the same stuff that the ebay seller is peddling, I don't know but it may be worthwhile asking him.

Here's some PDFs from the manufacturer:

Cheers

"Turns out the Pommy army couldn't afford any new tents":)

just like me I cant afford any new soft-tops!:crybaby:

I am also planning on taking some beeswax to the seams afterwards so we will see how that goes

So all in all i don't consider this a failure, but I am hoping that someone documents a better way soon.. lemme know! v1

somebody had to try it :)

i've been away ...and look at all the canvas stuff that gets posted....cool :)

too bad about the stain not working too well...
I would agree that mixing the stain with Canvak would be a good solution....it will delute it and be able to soak in better....and the oils in the canvak would make the drying time be alot longer....but...probably no make the canvas as stiff IMO
good to test on a sample 1st :)

the other stuff posted look interesting...and people would need to update us for the quality of the products used.
