$339 for the ‘acoustic’ glass for my ‘09 LX. There was a $299 option too.

I’ll post an update after we finally get a good, hard rain. Might be a while
I wonder if there will be an “acoustic” option for my 06 LC. I’d definitely pay for any improvement available.

Quick update after 1,600 miles to NM and back
  • No new unwelcome noises, such as whistling, at highway speeds
  • We encountered some rain while camping in the mountains. No electrical gremlins to speak of and did not notice any moisture in the floorboards or A Pillars.
    • Real verdict will come when we get the phat rain in the fall.
  • Note: I did supply them with OEM top molding. They supply a universal top molding by default - which is probably fine, too. Edit: @bloc says NOPE. Stick with OEM top molding.

For the nerds - here is a snapshot of the glass they used

Universal top molding: nope.

My rig came with a whistle at highway speeds.. and also came with that molding. Took me a couple months to track to down.. rip out molding.. no more whistle.

I have a thread on the topic somewhere..

Other 200-series people.. just get the factory stuff. It’s cheap.

My friend is having trouble finding someone to do a rear quarter window on a LX570. Lpag said they can’t even get the glass, try a junk yard?

I finally got my 2016 LC windshield replaced last month after getting a referral from the parts rep at Autonation Toyota in Austin:

I paid $1329 plus tax for Toyota OEM glass without the calibration.

Ernesto at LPAG said that a light would come on the dash at some point on the dash if the calibration needed to be done. It's been about a month and I've had no issues. Ernesto also said that they do all the Toyota and Lexus dealer glass installs in Austin.

That's the company that makes the glass for Toyota, at least in my 2018 Tundra.

I am having them install non-oem glass in my 2008. The total price is $389 plus tax. My deductible is $250 but I won't make a claim since my wife had an accident in her car this year.

I don't think windshield claims "count against you' for insurance claims. I think they fall under the "act of god" category.

the difference is so slim I wouldn’t bother with insurance.

If anybody needs the top molding for a 200 series windshield, lemme know. I have an extra one
I am still waiting to get it installed. Let me know about the molding. I sent you a message.

1st appt was rescheduled since glass arrived broken. 2nd appt got rescheduled due to glass arriving late. 3rd appt I dropped off vehicle and got a call saying the wires were damaged on the replacement windshield for the heated wipers. I told them to install anyway since I didn't even know I had heated wipers. They called back 15 min later and said the installer accidentally dropped the glass. So now I am waiting for the glass to arrive for the 4th appt. At least I will have working heated wipers that I will never use in TX.

Finally got it installed by Low Price Auto Glass but the windshield is leaking. The floorboard was wet this morning on the passenger side. Luckily no electrical issues. I will need to contact them to fix the issue. I will also buy new OEM side moulding. LPAG used the old molding and it has already pulled away on the driver side.

That is disappointing to hear. Good luck getting it sorted..

And now I’m even more bummed calibrated isn’t operating anymore.

That sucks. Which location did you use?

Did they use the universal moulding strip on top, or did you buy the OEM one? Regular or acoustic glass?

I’m kind of windshield dumb. On the 200 series, do the side mouldings/trim pieces actually help keep water out, or is it more there for wind noise/aesthetics/etc? On my old LX, the side trim didn’t sit flush (several clips were broken), but I never had water intrusion. It was an OEM windshield, though.

Side molding is for aesthetics/noise/keeping dead leaves & dirt out. No function for windshield sealing.

I used the Manchaca location. The owner seemed knowledgeable about land cruiser windshields. He said they do work for Toyota Autonation. I ordered new trim so when they fix the windshield they can install the new trim. All pieces totaled around $230 including tax and shipping.

LPAG is going to do a leak test this week. The more I read on Mud, the more I suspect it might be the cowl.

LPAG did the leak test and it wasn't the windshield. I brought some MD foam and they installed it above the notch around the cowl. I saw this fix in other threads on Mud. They didn't charge me for adding the foam or installing new moulding that I bought. If the foam fix doesn't work then I will get a new cowl. I will say they are very accommodating and previously offered to pick up my truck from my house. I would use them again for windshield repairs. You can buy the plastic moulding clips on Amazon (15 for $9.99). There was a sweet gray 200 with bronze icon wheels also getting windshield work done. Makes me want to put my bronze icon wheels on my 200 that have been sitting in my garage since I bought them months ago.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear they are still trusted on the glass side of things.

A pre-emptive Cowl fix has been on my radar due in part to your update. And I don't mean the sensible "replace the cowl" or "add weatherstripping" fixes. More like the "add a plastic roof over the damn thing" fix.

Some inspiration for that is here: Water in Passenger Footwell - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/water-in-passenger-footwell.1283532/page-3#post-14432979

The owner is a huge fan of Land Cruisers, and he put me in touch with a potential buyer for mine. If I ever need glass work, I'll use Low Price Auto Glass again.

On a side note, F#*@* Nationwide Insurance and their farming out all glass claims to Safelight! Safelight lied and said I told them to deny any additional work needed to install a new windshield. When I called to straighten things out, Safelight denied they did this, then did everything possible to persuade me to move the Cruiser to one of their shops to complete the work. I followed up with LPAG, and they sent me a copy of the email from Safelight detailing the denied claim.

I'm now shopping for a new provider of home and auto insurance.

USAA uses Safelight for processing auto claims but allows customers to use whoever, but may not approve the quote if it is excessive.

Your 200 looks sweet but I am sure you have good reasons to sell. I have a hard time selling my cruisers and still have my 100 I bought used 21 years ago. Since it will be 25 years old next year, no more smog testing in TX.
