How common/big an issue is this? I need to replace mine and I remember having issues with this over a decade ago. Maybe @Racer65 could make a reproduction unit of the correct length so people don’t have to keep trying to measure and cut it to just the right length?

Why not the two pc?
I could just use a two piece one. The new one I have came from SOR but installing the lock is a struggle for me. every time I get the lock started I pop the windshield back out. the issue is probably me and I should just tough it out and keep trying. I felt like with the rope trick I could have had a 1peice gasket already installed. I would take it someplace but I live on an island.

Mine was replaced when I got it but leaked like a strainer. Honestly I think its probibly the same gasket I bought from SOR and am struggling with. Yeah... the cutting to length is a pain and I have already messed that part up. Figured I would ask the Cruiser peeps if there was a one piece gasket before I buy the gasket again.

Try Rubber Seals Australia. They may have it.

I farm this out.
Just had a new windshield cut and installed in the frame, I supplied the gasket and lock for less than 150....and it was money well spent im my book.

if you are pushing the glass out of the gasket when installing the lock, my WAG is the glass is cut too small
the glass should be fairly snug in the gasket in the frame
or the gasket is wrong

the hoop tool for installing lock strips is very helpful

after a lot of consideration I might have to take it to a shop off the island. ( 2 hour ferry ride and a couple hour drive) and just fix a few things while the 40 is down. Its just annoying because of where Iive. my glass is in OK shape started to delaminate under the gasket where I could not see it (looks foggy) and the glass has some pits. I might see about getting the glass replaced too. I also just broke down and bought another gasket from SOR. I dont know If I said this in this post but I did cut it a hair short when trying to replace it. luckly I did not have to buy the lock as I already have it.

I have the hoop tool. bought it with the first gasket. I am not sure if this is the original glass. it very well could be. Its certainly an old piece of glass. I might not have centered it enough in the frame or something too though.
