Sorry for the necromancy but .. well, did it work? :)

Now that i've seen this thread again...inquiring minds want to know! gimme closure!

I just purchased a 1991 fj80 and all the windows are currently non-operational. The prior owner went to town hacking up the wires so i have no clue what is wrong with the windows. So interested in this conversion.

My 80 is a DX with manual windows ex-factory. The mechanisms and winder handles, etc. were all still available ex-toyota when I went looking for some to replace a few that had got badly rusted a few years ago. You'd need different armrest covers (ones without window switch provision), and you'll need 'jesus' clips, etc. to go with the manual winder handles. If someone did go down this road it can be a good time to replace the bailey channel rubbers and check that the metal carrier that the bottom of the glass sits in hasn't gone horridly rusty.

Could someone who has manual windows post the pics of how it looks

Nope, but I replaced my worn out driver door regulator, lubed and reused the motor and cleaned, lubed and reused the run and it works like new. Took me a couple hours, but I imagine the passenger side will go faster when I get around to it.

I grew up with manual windows, call me a snob, but I appreciate the modern convenience rather than cranking away like a peasant!
