The ongoing 80 series saga of power window problems has me thinking, has anyone converted their power windows to the ye olde manual style?
There are some 80's, in other markets, where that was available.

Price wise, looking at the cost of a new motor, is it viable?

My drivers side motor has seemed to died while down at Moab. We tested the switches, they are fine, but testing power directly at the motor there is nothing happening.

Looking at the parts diagram at ToyoDiy.com, the regulators are the same part number for either mode, just that the manual mode would need:

69260 HANDLE ASSY, FRONT DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR

and

69272 PLATE, FRONT DOOR REGULATOR INSIDE HANDLE

One problem I see is that they are incomplete part numbers with no extra 5 digits, and it also says "not applicable" under each of their descriptions......

I was just going to say they are that much? then I looked... $215

Why don't you just get a used one, I cant imagine they go for much used... maybe even Sheldon has a few kicking around.

Edit.... I got beat but here is more numbers

Will they work with the existing door panels?

I don't know. The electrified version door handle might be different and possibly interfere. Or they could be the same part, with an ash tray in place of the window switches, something like that.

Super interested in this.

3 of my windows are not functional. I'm not wanting to tear it all apart and rebuild electric- maybe rebuild w/ manual.

Same here all my windows are slow as hell in the winter time.

Sent from my HTC EVO4G using IH8MUD

...going to experiment with one of the cheaper window regulators on eBay.

Will report findings...

LC's doors should be ready to take manual window, however the door handles are different.

If any body wants i can get original toyota manual window regulators for 85+ ride($5-10)

I had the same problem with my 97 TLC. The problem is most likely the window motor.
I took the motor out on the windows which weren't working, clean the brushes, clean the inside of the motor case, lube the bushing at base of motor where the spindle rotates, and after all of this, the motors had some life left.
I did have to replace one of the motors which was rusted and frozen. Bought it online for $140.
I have thought about converting the windows to manual but can't find the parts.
hope this helps

I'm also very interestred in this conversion, I prefer manual windows. Just less stuff to go bad.

It wont be 100% plug and play mod. You would need to modify you outer door panel as window crank will be not too far away from the arm rest.
