Great answer.Thanks. And I do live in a great neighborhood. I'm more worried when I'm over landing and might stop at a hotel if not camping. And no I'm not going to buy a crappy winch.

Can you hook us up with a pic pleaseI've done solder in button heads. Button heads give NOTHING to grab and the solder hides the hex.

Thanks JoeyInstall then just add solder. Of course there is a rather easy way to get around it but it will look like a carriage bolt once you are done.

Stay at a better hotel
The same double nut technique works there too. Most thefts are opportunity based, so anything that really slows them down will discourage them. There is no guarantee that they will not just steal your whole rig???? They can drag it up on a flatbed anytime they want!!Now the question arises; how will you secure the winch bumper to the frame? If I were a thief I'd take all I could especially if it was actually easier.

How often do any of us really feel compelled to secure our winch anyway? I'm thinking that simply routing the winch line around the axle and putting a pad lock on it will work for those occasions. Or purposely weld a ring to the frame that the winch line could be locked to.The same double nut technique works there too. I use something like Nlxtacy but it has a pin in the center, Requiring a special Allen wrench . They work I know because i have to secure storm drain grate at our schools to keep the recycle crazed people from walking off with them. Yes they steal them whenever they can!
