what is the best bolt combination to securely mount a winch with a security bolt or theft deterrent? I prefer not to tack weld in case I need to have it serviced.
Any help is appreciated and photos do wonders too.

I think if i was truly worried about winch theft i'd get a cheaper winch and put it behind the stock bumper. You could also go with some theft deterrent bolts.

Tack weld is the best IMO. Not many thieves bring a grinder and cut-off wheel with them. However since you DON'T want to weld, those Factor 55 locking bolts are also good.

Thanks. And I do live in a great neighborhood. I'm more worried when I'm over landing and might stop at a hotel if not camping. And no I'm not going to buy a crappy winch.

SOP way back when was to use socket head caps screws to mount the winch.

Then pound a large soft lead fishing sinker or lead bullet into hex recess of the bolt head and file the excess off.

To get a hex wrench to work you have to drill and dig out the lead. It would deter the smash and grab type of lowlife.

Now the question arises; how will you secure the winch bumper to the frame? If I were a thief I'd take all I could especially if it was actually easier.

Exactly. And service your winch? Am I missing an OCD variable here. How often do you do that? Couple tacks are easily removed in the convince of your home for that maintenance if you that worried.

But like baldi said, I would just remove the bumper and be gone with it if I was a :headbang:  fxxxing thief.

Side note, you would have to remove my bumper or break out all the front grill and etc to remove mine.

I bought the Factor 55. Where do you hide the key?
Taped to inside of dust collector can on air filter?

If you want to get off cheap then get a countersunk bolt and drill the center out after tightening. You only need 1.
Then you would need to cut nut from bottom if you ever needed off.
Simple Job for an acetyelene torch.
