What WiFi solutions are people using in the 80?

I searched and see a lot of 100 owners with WiFi but not a lot of 80s. I am looking to run Amazon music or Google music but don't want to use my phone data plan. WiFi seems like a better option.

I'm not sure how you'd get the data without using your cell service. Unless you just want a hotspot with its own data package.

Yeah Hotspot was kind of what I was thinking, but haven't checked price wise

I've kind of been thinking about doing it but haven't really looked into it. I'm sure a hotspot and the required amount of data would be more than I'd want to spend. I have a pumpkin brand Android double din head unit that has wifi, so any of those apps would work. It'd be cool to have, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

WIFI? Cell service? Here in Arizona you would need to stay in the city limits.

If not a "hot-spot" cell/wifi device (we use Sierra modems in most our fleet) then some else here used a similar device that does wifi to wifi bridging. I can't recall the thread however and would limit you to be in range of a wifi signal that you had access to.

Any WiFi system needs to pull its data from somewhere. If pure Wifi then you need to be very close to a data source, like in the Starbucks parking lot. If it's hotspot then it's tethered to your cell phone and borrows from your data service. If you have unlimited hotspot data then no issues. Otherwise there is a monthly fee. If it's untethered hotspot then it basically acts as if it's its own cell phone with hotspot. The monthly is cheaper than cell phone hotspot. And of course there is satellite but it's $$$

I just use my phone as a Hotspot when I need to run the laptop and have no other wifi . I have been looking for 4G and wifi boosters with external antennas to add to my farm. I'll try to find the links later. Picking up my daughter soon.

If someone figures out how to get cheap mobile data in a Land Cruiser let me know so I can get it for my phone...

Cricket wireless does 5 lines each with 2.5Gb of data for $100/mth. My wife and 2 kids take the first 3, we keep a fone for visitors from overseas and my cruiser got the 5th line. I listen to amazon music and you tube but have never gone over the 2.5gb. Happy days...

What? I burn through at least 10 gig every month ! And that's being very good about finding wifi.

So do I but the ohone in my truck doesn't..

I'm looking at the stuff from these guys.

There largest antenna is over 5 feet long but folds down when not in use. Over kill...... absolutely. I do like the form factor of the router and the fact that it is set up for 12vdc. I love that it's tailored for marine use too.

I know I am being cheap but any sub $100 options out there? at sub $100 it is probably best to find a exterior cell signal booster, no? Ideally it would be nice to boost the cell signal in order to get service while camping near areas with towers or nearby cities. Obviously won't work in remote areas.
