Thanks,

how much do you have in them?

Wheels america in houston does this for around 100 per wheel. I remember pricing when I needed to widen and narrow mu ctock wheels to run slicks and skinnies on stock mustang v6 wheels ;)

The cost of a set of drum brake wheels $50, the rims value was around $75, and I would guess 2 hrs per wheel labor.

I used $35 worth of self etching primer and Hammerite...

If they will do LC wheels for $100 apiece now I would say that is a bargain if they are straight when finished, I have had my hands on 2 sets from other suppliers and they are not true.......

I have never heard the term "drum brake wheels" before.

I still am curious as to what they are and where I might get them.

Best,

T

They are the Land Cruiser wheels make prior to 1976 when front disc brakes were standard, the disc wheels are welded and in demand so they are not a viable candidate for this.....they pop up often on the forum in the sale section or you could post in the wanted section.......

This is a great thread! Keep up the good work, guys!

:)

I wanna widen my 16" split rims, where do I start???

R

Find wider splits and sell what you have. What you want to do is take a "split" outer and make it wider? That would involve a lathe, welder and lots of $. I don't know how safe a welded outer is, maybe it would be fine.

Finally Old School

Back in the 60's when we raced dirt track in South Georgia and wanted to use steel wheel's this is exactly what we did. Works good last a long time. Very glad to see this is being done. Now if I didn't live in the Philippines and had a set of steelies and hub caps I'd get on the bandwagon...Good for you
