The set on Garths pig came from somewhere in Kali, and they are cut and metal added......and are nowhere near true.....

Pay me????
hell you can do this.
Bolt it to the front rotor and use it with a dial indicator to true it.....
Butch

Mine came from $OR, no idea who they farmed them out to...and they are only widened to 7"...hardly worth the effort.

If you decide to add this to your Cruiser-related services, count me in for 5- 10" wide wheels for Purdy...

Two questions, Butch:

1) whadidya use for rims?

2) what color/brand is the powercoat?

3) is there any chance there are 16" rims with the same ID as the OD of the rivet-wheel centers?

hmmm, three questions :D

Steve

Has anyone ever tried getting a set of the Chebby 16" steelies and welding hubcap tabs to them for a 40?

The look very similar...stolen pic.

All of the GM's use 4" or more backspacing, and the center is way too small.......I built me a jig to true the wheels up......used an old drum spindle and hub, a section of 5" pipe and a chunk of 8" channel, works great.

Rims are from the used wheel shed here at the shop.
This is just Krylon paint, my powder coat guy has the formula for the color though.
All of the 16" wheels I have checked is too large for the stock center to fit...

Dragging this thread out of the closet. Has anyone finished a set of these? I would like to widen a set for my 45 that has the early hub caps. Any idea where to get the outer wheel blanks?
