fire extinguisher mounts nicely in front of the driver's seat, on the floorboard- the sheet metal curves up to the seat perches and provides enough room to screw the extinguiser holder in.

Hard to find somewhere that is easier to reach in a hurry. I've seen them mounted to the B pillar, but think it looks like crap and, despite being sure that they are super-pressure tested, I don't like the idea of having compressed gas stored just a few inches from my head.

You'd rather have it inches from your balls?

;)

Right now it sits between the Tuffy Box's cup holders and the shifter, but it's definitely temporary.

yup. I imagine that the seat itself would offer some form of protection if the valve burst open. If something actually exploded, it'll ricochet off of the tranny hump instead of off the roof. If it bounces back and hits my leg, that would be lousy, but much better than my noggin.

Hey dogboy,
Can you just buy the foam pad for the bottom of the front seats. My upholstery is in good condition, but I would like firmer pads to sit on.

Yes you can! My 60 came with the SOR new High Density seat foam (not installed) and once i ripped the seats apart and installed the new foam, it made all the difference in the world! Highly recommended product!!!

WARNING: Make sure you seat upolestry covers (factory oem) are in good shape!!! Mine were slightly ripped and werent able to hold the new foam in place 100% and it tore slightly, i am currently fixing this now!

My .02

I actually had a local uphosltery shop reinforce the current "flat foam" by putting a layer on top and stretching the original upholstery over to get rid of the worn tearing stuff on the edge. Cost me about $60 for the drivers side.

i just finished my interior in my 40, i dont know how different a 60's brackets are, but these SABB Leather seats went into my 40 fine, the front 2 holes are exactly the same width and i ran some angle iron back to the rear holes and stock rear mounting points.. they are heated and i got them from a junk yard for like $10 a pop!

Howdy, how did you get on with the seatbelt mounting/ conversion? I dont suppose anyone else knows if the seat mount holes are the same width on a 60 as they are on a 40? Ican get my hands on a pair of heated leather saab seats for cheap so am pretty interested, especially if they will go in with minimal hassle. Are they comfy? They sure look comfy.

Yes 62 rear seat will fit right into a 60. The shoulder belts are a easy upgrade as well but I haven't seen retractable ones.

I don't know what you call them over there or even the availability, but late 80's through the 90's Honda accord seats fit into a 60 a real treat. Mounts are almost indectical with very very minimal adjustment required to fit them. Also they have great lumber and side support, a must for anyone doing serious wheelin'.

Don't those accord seats sit low to the ground?

What's the seat height compared to stock?

The Accord seat sit ok. You actually bolt the seat to the original L/C seat base not to the floor.

I love a stock looking vehicle, but the seats in the Cruiser just don't offer quite enough bolstering and/or support and I'm looking for potential replacements. Either aftermarket or a swap from another make, what have you guys gotten to work and how do you like 'em?

I think seats from a supra fit with little or no mods. Leather, bucket... pretty cool if you ask me.

I just bought the brackets and one seat from Corbeau(figured I would try one first). I don't really like it (the Baja seat). I am thinking of selling the brackets and the seat, and having my original seats recovered and having them add some sort of bolstering....I would imagine Supra seats would be awfully comfortable...
