who has a 1963 heater?

just wondering if anyone has this sort of heater, im wanting to buy one for my restoration and think it would be awesome to have! if you know of a fellow mudder or a friend that may have one for sale it would be great if you could tell me.

You'll need a RHD model if it was ever made. also if you didn't have the hole in the firewall for the blower motor, that would be more fabrication. this was discussed 2 weeks ago in your other thread on the heater.

Wow, that's very interesting, and something I hadn't even considered the possibility of.

Years ago, when I decided to abandon the blower motor and the duct in RufToys to use the space for other purposes, I went to the local electronics store and bought a 12v cooling fan that would fit inside the inlet of the heater itself. Granted it was only a single speed, but it served my purpose of getting something more than passive heat without the bulk of the factory delivery system.

Perhaps something like this would work for you too.

i have owned a couple 63 fj40s and several 64 and 65 fj40s and they all had aftermarket heaters except a 65 that had that heater .there were no holes in the firewall except where the hoses came through.any factory heater will work basicaly the same .i had a 66 and a 67 with a similar style heater so i dont know if there is a factory correct heater for that year.

I have a 66 somewhere in my garage. Mine 66 is so far from original other than it's all Toyota that I would be willing to let it go to a good home. I will probably be using the 78 unit from my 2nd generation donor drive train.

i remember this, i think its to impossible to find a RHD model and the modifications for my car wouldnt be too hard would it?

Not sure how early this heater came out but it was 63. I heard of one in 64 but never seen it. It might be a 65 model make in 64. US market the heater was a option in 65 and almost all 66 and 67 models got the this heater. Once the 68 model started being made in 68 the heater changed. Not sure if that how is was in Australian market. These came be found here but not that easy. Don't ever remember seeing any of these heaters over there. Blower from earlier than 74 should be the same. Same with the heater duct. Can't remeber if I posted in you other thread on the LHD model without a heater the vacuum shifter needed to be relocated to install the blower on the firewall. Not sure if that the case on the RHDs.

do you even have the vents for the windshield defrost? I had a US early 63 that did not have defrost vents in the cowl.

yeah i have the vents, its kinda weird that heaters didnt come stock in Aus, only after market (from what ive heard) ...plus ive only ever seen 1 heater like the one in my photo in aus
