Work all day fixing poorly designed products so I got an 80 as a sanity check.

Dental lab technician and I just started fighting fires on a volunteer basis.

Sr Program Manager in Aerospace
Bought an FJ40 in 1979, sold it in 1984
Mid life crisis in 2003 and bought another FJ40 and fixed it up.
Bought LX450 last month after wheeling with a bunch of 80's. Certianaly more reliable than my GMC

- Born in USA, moved to Canada with family at 13 and I still carry an American passport.
- Work in product development in wireless sector (and it's stressing me out). Been doing this for 24 years now.
- First Toyota was an 1981 Celica, I was going to buy a Mustang but my first boss told me I was nuts and drove me to the Toyota dealer (during work) and told me to drive a Toyota.
- Bought first cruiser in 86 (60 series) for fishing and camping. I loved that old truck but got tired of the rust and gutless/noisy diesel.
- Bought my 80 in the summer of 2003 (thanks to the guys on this site).
- Dedicated husband and father of 2 young boys.
Just got home from an exhausting trip of Europe for 2 weeks and now have a bad head cold.

Well I can honestly say I am still 29 till next february. not a really big deal for me now.
I am a welder / fabricator for a company that builds van bodies and trailers. specifically I am over the area that produces mobil paper shredding trucks. been doign this for 4 months now and I love it. I will not be going back into the body shop business any time soon.
I test drove a 40 series for a freind of mine who was not 16 yet when I was 17. wanted to buy one since. bought my first 80 3 years ago promptly rolled it and bought another.
I am the proud father of a 5 year old who cant decide if he wants a 55 or an 80 series when he is old enough to drive.
Oh and I moved to Bellingham Wa, (Hell its almost in canada) 1.5 yrs ago and love it up here.

I was born in Iran, moved to U.S. in 79, I am a graduate student at SFSU in the Broadcasting program. Had a 1995 pathfinder, got a chance to wheel a diesel 80 in Egypt had to have one when I got home, sold the pathfinder picked up a 93 80 never looked backed. recently bought an 83 fj40 for my brother to wheel, he moved out of the country so now I need to sell it

i don't really remember how I came to think about buying an 80. Until a few months before I found and bought one I had no background or knowledge of landcruisers or offroading, knew zero about 60s or 40s except that some were diesel, and was completely unaware of the existance of the 80 series since it was never sold in Canada. I think I first got onto the 80 series based on my respect for the reputation of 4runners and then somehow finding out there was something bigger. Between the old SOR forum and 80scool I learned enough to realize this was a truck I could buy, keep for a long time and work on myself. Now it turns out I really enjoy getting out in the trees with it which is basically a bonus, as is the fact I enjoy working on the truck.

I bought the 80 because it is built tough and can do some serious wheeling (even without lockers). It can last a long time with proper PM. It rides well for an offroad vehicle and has quality look and feel. Plus, the wife digs it.

My current LC is my first and I have had for about 5 months. I have ALWAYS liked the LC since I was a kid and fell for a FJ40. Always wanted one. Really liked the 80. Thought I was going to buy a 4runner, but found a great deal on a "mall cruiser" and couldn't pass it up. Now I won't consider driving anything else!!!

39.8 years old and have been working on other peoples junk(cruisers) for the past 5, our shop is www.raddcruisers.ca.
My wife and two kids enjoy skiing, mountain biking(I like the North Shore style myself), wake boarding, fourwheeling, BMX racing, hockey, lacrose, soccer.
They gotta figure out how to make one helmet do all duties, my son has four different helmets for each type of sport.
Purchased my first BJ42 10 years ago, my first toyota was a 1982 Corolla and my mom and dad combined have owned 22 toyotas, all new. I have owned nearly 40.
I however do own a suit, tie and slacks and they get used once a year.
