I own 2 100's, but had to comment because I noticed a couple of Finance/Accounting folks posted (erics_bruisere and brentbba). I'm one too! We must recognize the economy (ROI) of the long lasting Land Cruiser!!!!

37, Aeronautical Engineer (Hypersonic propulsion & armaments)
Now in NorCal (2yrs) via Port Angeles,WA (12 yrs) originating from Iowa.
Didn't see a cruiser until I moved to Washington in 1990. Immediately fell in love with 40s and bought my '72 in Sept. 91. Boss at the time had an FJ80 (company car) which I drove occasionally but thought was way under powered. Like many at the time, I turned my nose up at the yuppie-mobile. Started changing my tune about '95 or '96 as some of the first 80s began wheeling. Started looking for one about then but did not pull the trigger until this July after child #3, primarily because we no longer all fit (for trail riding) in the 40. Did the Rubicon with it in August with a bunch of swell NorCal guys. Taking the family in it to Surf and Turf next week.

This is the first time I have felt old in a group......37 - wife, 2 toddlers, and a mut

Always wanted a landcruiser and finally was able to afford a used 96 in 2002. Great way to have family time and explore the outdoors.

29, Technical Engineer (tech support dude) for soft dev company in SLC,
Live in Farmington, Utah, 20 minutes north of SLC, 3.23456 hours north west of MOAB
Have had 3 FJ60's, 1 FJ62, and now the 94 80 and a 74 FJ55.
Been looking for that ever elusive perfect 40 to buy, but keep coming across wagons. Have worked with my buddies on building, restoring, fixing, breaking cruisers for 16 years, and have gone through about 30 or so of them.
Got the 80 because it was right price, at right time, with all the goodies.
Still waiting to get the right 40 for me, and add it to the collection.

First LC I ever saw was a FJ40 when I was about 7. Started to look for one after I had my college paid off back in 1995. Didn't get my first one till 1999, and it turned out to be a FZJ80 because the wife liked the size.

LOL! You got that right!!!! I'd rather spend about $500 a year on maintenance than $500 a month on a car payment!!!

Great ROI on these trucks!

Wanted a 80 landcruiser because when I get door dinged I finally wanted to do more damage to the door dinger as a result of his action. Really just wanted something different from past vehicles, wanted something slow, and tank like. :)

Bought the 80 because: Needed more seating capacity than the Miata (wife's car), wanted a off-road capable vehicle that is dependable and comfortable. Looking forward to having a job that pays $$$ and to be able to do more mods on the 80.

Bought the 80 because I couldn't fit the wife and the kid in the 81 TOY and it the 80 is the only thing that ever kept up with it off road.

Lets see here, 31 years old, live in the San Francisco Bay Area and work as an Attorney once in a while.

Looked at an 80 in 1999, but it was to much money then. Always liked them, had researched them on the old 80's Cool site. Last spring, an 80 popped up at a local dealer/brokers lot. It was white, had 113k, had lockers, was pretty clean and had been turned back into the credit union providing financing by the original owners who had bought it out from the lease (they lost their business). Took it home to show the wife, we were trying to get pregnant, have a 100 pound german shepard and she didn't want to drive my 91 pathfinder with 180k and a 5 speed with the dog and baby all the time. $13,000 later, the 80 was ours. Now she just drives it all the time and I get to take it in the evenings. She likes the 100's so when I find a good deal, will probably get her one.

Learned to drive in my folks 55, always wanted an 80, bought a 60, then BJ60, FJ55, 2 40s, right before we had a kid sold everything and bought a FJ80 then 9 months later traded the Tahoe off for a FZJ80 My dad has owned 5 LCs: a 55, a 40, 2 80s, and a LX450 which he still has. My brother has had 2 40s and is looking to trade his 40 for an 80.

Bought the 60 when I finally couldn't stand driving a boring company car anymore. It sucked my soul dry.
Bought the 80 when the timing belt tensioner on the Turbo'd Passat prematurely failed at 6000rpm, causing massive engine damage, and all VW would do is offer to sell us a new Passat - and I'm not angry anymore, but I do intend to keep telling the story to as many people as possible.
Now that I know how lucky I am to have these two great rigs, I've helped a few others find ones for themselves.
My son is next, he wants a 62.
