Yeah I figured as much Andy. I would imagine even in SC you need to take a hunters safety course. Granted this is one of the most slack states as far as restrictions on a lot of things go vehicles is a good example, but they would have so many anti gun people up their ass without hunters safety courses that I bet even SC you take one.

Here in Florida we are required to take the hunter safety course to hunt on Military bases. Took mine about 10+ years ago. I believe it is now required for all. (At least I hope it is). Anyway, it was a fun course. Hands-on here in Florida. I personally enjoyed it....and learned some stuff, too.

okay, just got back from picking up the key and doing some scouting in NE Georgia............... the lady at the state park headquaters (Mary) told the exact same as you david; in that only one person in the group needs the license. So from her point of view as you have said it looks that we could take a group in. Like I said before, the only snag is the waiver Andy signed said every vehicle must have a licensed hunter............. so who do we listen to????. I presonally don't think we would have any problems taking a group of cruisers in there and I think this is going to turn out to be a good thing for the club, we will know before long.

Killer news and awesome work, JP. Dude, you definitely get the effort award this week!!

I faxed a copy of the key agreement to David. He's looking it over. If Mary Ann told you the same thing she told David, we are good to go!!

There's only one line in the key agreement that could remotely cause an issue but David's on it and we should be fine.

Awesome - no expense for UC members!! :grinpimp:

How productive was the NE GA exploration? Did you make it down to the Chattooga river?? That's pretty country right there!

ummmm the NE Georgia trails we checked out today, are good mountain biking trails...... 5-10 years ago they would have been killer trails but lack of use has let small pines to start growing up and tree limbs are over hanging the trails; not wagon material and not really worth the effort in the 40 series with the other trails avaible in our area.

With that said when I get the 40 running and can get some one to join me there are still lots of good looking possibilities in that area I would like to pursue........

Okay...this sounds great, fellers!

I'm sure David will agree with me that safety and legal awareness is ALWAYS FIRST. Let's proceed with caution and in the event that we do succeed in getting in, let's heed Capt. Jim's warning and act with courtesy in all situations in there.

I don't want any of you knuckleheads hurt or in any trouble with the law or a hunter;)

Greaat job, Andy and JP. You guys are golden!

JP: When we solidify a date, please send me the details so that I may send the info via email to the club.

FIRED UP!!!!

Sign me up, as long as we call all go in legally! Unfortunately I dont have the $ to spend if it does cost $125+.

Keep us all posted and lets set-up a date.

neat drive

The drive in Auger Hole is very easy. GREAT camping areas
that are marked for camping. Nice one down by the river that
would hold the whole club camping. I didn't see turkey but
did get to see a Great Horned Owl. Neat.
Gate was closed at the Muster Ground road.
No hunter safety courses for us old timers. Born after something
like 1979 and you are REQUIRED to take safety course. Same in S.C.
Guess they figure someone THAT old that hasn't shot anyone by now
was OK. You kids will just have to go to school. :flipoff2:
N.C. is $125 and I think it even covers game management lands.
I smell a UC Hunting Party this spring. Gobble, Gobble, Gobble
JP and crew are on their way to Mountain Estates to get the Scout in some
serious mud. I came home. :)
Good day.
BIG THANKS to Andy for having a license AND getting us the key.
JP is taking to events co-ordinator like a duck to water.
Thanks to ALL involved.
This is a definate club camping location. Fun for ALL members
reguardless of truck mod status. :grinpimp:

Jeff and the Rover conquered mountain estates.............. I must say I was very impressed the rover made it through all the tuff off camber stuff and mad it look easy!!! Jeff is def. glad he got the insurance now, the rover had some new "character" thanks to Mountain Estates :D. Jeff had the rover doing about a 4ft. wheel stand at the exit to the power lines!!! We had a blast, he took lots of pics of my cruiser going thru the mudholes and he is going to post the up on his website for us to check out should be some cool stuff. You should have seen the looks on the locals faces when we rolled thu with the 50,000 dollar rover up the trails, their jaws dropped especially when it made it up all the obstacles

here are some pics of the rover, didn't get any of the off camber action.........

Sounds like a great day. That last picture makes me homesick for the upstate. My place is two minutes from there.

Whern does hunting season end up there? May try to make it up if another run is planned.

I definitely can't wait to go back. Sorry I had to lead the forced charge on the way out due to time constraints. Would have been nice to have more time to explore some of those side roads. Though the Dakar Rally race Jocassee style was fun coming out - it was awesome watching that diesel 60 tear it up in my rearview mirror, Ghen!! You had Marshall and me laughing for sure!! :D

I like JP's idea of setting up a group camp down near the river and using that as a base to go exploring. That road that Richard found near camp that parallels the river is the first one I want to check out. It went both directions.

Great pics, Marshall. That camera takes really nice photos. I especially like the one of Ghen coming out of the river with his reflection on my rear window.

I have pics that I'll post too, as well as some shots from the MLK Tellico trip. I've been bad about making room on my PC for new photos but my 1 gig memory card on my camera ran out of room on Saturday so I need to transfer those photos ASAP.

Let's get it scheduled!! Can't wait to go back.

yep, I am thinking an April trip That place would be killer with the trees and flowers coming back out to bloom.... plus I want to take the 40 down in there to play around in the Horsepasture river there. It has some killer boulder obstacles, that the 62 just wasn't up too :D.

We can talk about a return trip at Barley's next week!!!

On a side note, Andy do you have the key???

April would be a great time to go. Our window is the five weekend period between April 8th - May 6th (spring turkey season).

I thought I left the key with you??? :D

Yep, the rest of my weekend was so hectic, I never unpacked the truck. I just went and checked and it was still in the center console in the 100. I just brought it in and gave it it's own shiny Toyota key chain. Kind of appropriate, don't you think?? ;)

cool glad you have it, cause I thought I was supposed to, but then I didn't and I was thinking , you guys would have killed me if I lost it :D

I need to look into getting my NC license so I can use it
