Tires won't do much to make it feel faster, but racing stripes may or even flames.

This is making me laugh!!! Put what you want on it. If there is any difference either way what will it matter. 12 mpg sux and so does 10mpg.

A 2.5+ ton brick doesn't deliver good mileage. A set of P195/65R15 will deliver better mileage if attached to one of these.:hillbilly:

Which one do you guys think looks better on stock wheels, the 285's or the 305's?

You can post picks if you like...

305's look bigger, but on the stock 16x8 they are pinched just a bit. 285's seem to have great tread contact on a 16x8, but for looks, I think I'd say a 305's. I'd go 315's or 37's personally :D

I just had this issue 285's vs 305's. I ended up going with 305/70 Duratracs and like the way they look and fill out the wheel wells. I have a OME 2.5" lift as well. The 305 have a bit of tread that does not make contact due to the 8" rim (maybe 1/4 - 3/8") per side. These tires track very nice but are a bit heavier than the 285 Nitto's I took off. Pics attached off both. I would go 305's again, and I did put a full size spare under the rear (photo). I have the spare mod as well.

Hey I am jumping in late on this post. My wifes rig which is 110% DD.

I need 2 new front tires and apparently continental discountinued my tire.

Firestone has a deal on 265 70 16s would it make sense to move down and buy 4 of these are order 2 275 over the internet and pay about 200 less but have only two new tires not four.

Will 265s make the LC look like a childs car??

What should I do I am driving 400 miles on Friday and have to make a move.

265's look pretty small... of course mine are only measuring at 29.5... they are pretty worn

at least try to get a 265/75/16

I think it wise to have matching sizes and I agree in bumping it up to 265/75/16.

I'd up size If this is a daily driver on road, why not check into 275/70/16 Michelin LTX M/S, which is the stock tire. The Land Cruiser drive really smooth on pavement with this tire.

The great thing about a 275/70 is that the tire will be slightly wider than the 265/75, and a slightly wider tire is good given the size of the Land Cruiser (yes there are exceptions to this but not in this case). The slight increase in width (back to the stock size) will make the truck feel a bit more solid on, well, solid surfaces like paved roads.

Good luck!

I'm still running 265/70r16 Michelin M/S size tire and during recent trip to UP, MI I have averaged 17MPG's per tank averaging 68mpg hwy August 72deg average temp, i think that's amazing considering that I'm used to averaging 11 to 12mpg in the city driving summer and 9 to 11 winter. My brothers 95 with 285/75r16 BFG's KM2's, with the same exact lift OME 2.5" Medium gets 14mpg average hwy millage same weather conditions. Height will play a role in worst MPG but there is a definite difference in MT and street tire and also height and air friction, weight of the tire will play as a factors in the entire ordeal not to mention air pressure. Also difference in compound and thread design will play a big role, so at the end of the day I will go with the 285 size due to all the advantages that you will get form running a taller tire including clearance/clearance for thread to the wheel, better look and last but not least considerably close gas millage or not. Good luck!
