So after reading through the FAQS decided on Ranchos and the :princess: has given the go ahead.

Here is my question I have 2.5" in lifted springs and about .5" realized shackle lift.

Front eye to eye length is 17.5" and rear is 19" the recommended shocks are RS999113 for front and RS999118 for rear.

After looking up the extension and compression measurements I'm wondering if there is any reason that I could not use the 118s up front and go with RS999116 in the rear?

I have a 2.5" spring lift with standard shackles and run 113's in the front and 116's in the rear and there is plenty of extension.

Hope this helps.

Thanks- Any reason you went with the 113's up front instead of the 118's???

Anyone else go with them up front?

Thanks I never saw it:doh:

So if I'm reading it correctly all of them will work for front or rear as quoted below?

3" RANRS999113/6/8/9 RANRS999113/6/8/9 97.99

I've gotten some good feedback but is there any other preferred combo or reason for one over another for front & rear?

That is what I derived from my lengthy internet search. I ended up purchasing the Skyjackers instead of the Ranchos. I have found Ranchos to be pretty stiff and I have the Skyjackers on another rig and they seam OK for the price. (Bilsteins are really the way to go but I was not going to drop that scratch on shocks). With regard to the Skyjackers, some companies listed a different part number for front and back and others listed the same. I went with an application suggested and purchased two different part numbers at 4 Wheel Drive Parts since I got a gift card with my TLCA renewal.

This is only a guess but if the sites I researched are right then they will fit front and back. I do not know what the difference's are in the 4 Rancho part numbers. I do see that the 113 and the 118 do not list the same Jeep Wranglers in their application. I am searching around for a spec chart I think I found at one point....

Code:
 Model.........comp........extended....travel
RS99113 .... 13.125 ..... 20.000 .....6.875
RS99116 .... 15.000 ..... 23.750 .....8.750
RS99118 .... 14.250 ..... 22.125 .....7.875
RS99119 .... 11.625 ..... 17.375 .....5.750

Nothing is simple. I think a 40 often has a little less travel on the front.
