Is there in any parameters around which hood ornament 25s have? It seems in all the pictures I can see the Round Toyota is only outside the US and both types appear on pictures of Aussie 25s.

The earlier FJ25s had the oval. The later ones got the T bird. I think Australia got them a little ealier that why you see both there. Here in the US Toyota had already made the change to to the T bird. There may be one or two oval emblems here in the US but those were from cruisers imported later from other countries.

Thanks for the help. Do you hve the dimensions for the holes on the bonnet (Hood) ie how far apart for the T. I can measure mine to see if it matches.

Yes the oval is found on '58 and earlier, and the T-Bird is on the '59 and '60. Also, the T-Bird hood emblem was matched with the "Toyota Land Cruiser" apron emblem, while the oval was matched with the block letter "TOYOTA" apron emblem.

The oval goes back all the way to the 1954 Toyota BJ Jeep. Only difference is the BJ oval was painted the same color as the body, while the 20 series oval was chromed with a red paint background.

I knew you could all come up with the goods.

It arrives in Melbourne on Monday and I should get to see it later in the week (being hid from certain parties who think another old vehicle is a waste of time and money).

The frame number I have seems to be incomplete - #FJ25207.

What sources are there for the T-Bird emblem? My '62 FJ40 seems to have the holes predrilled and I would like to place a bird up there.

LandCruiserJunky had made some in the past. Not sure if he has any left. Your wouldn't have come with the Tbird on teh hood. The T bird was a later FJ25 only. That is unless Toyota installed it on other vehicles in other markets. The Stamped LAND CRUISER bezel with no Toyota emblem in the grill is correct for a 62. If yours had a Tird on the hood it was because you have a FJ25 hoodl on your early FJ40

That is what I thought and I have the stamped bezel but...

...my hood seems to be drilled in the right location for the T bird so maybe I have a FJ25 hood.

I can tell you have the stamped bezel. The letters are suppose to be painted. It's a red color just not sure what red. My first one I got may have been the original paint. That was back in the early eighties. I know it came off 61 FJ40 from Henderson, NV. It was going to be restoreed but it never happened so the bezel was given to me. By then I had already been searching for a few year to find one. I repainted the bezel white and the letters black:frown: If you have any left over paint it that color. Looks so much nicer when it stands out.
