guys,

I've read about the dual batteries on here, SLEE battery kit for group 31, etc. BUT, I just need a replacement for my 2013 lx570. Occasional towing only. I don't have a fridge or aftermarket audio equipment.

costco does not have a 27F battery
autozone, advance auto, and sears all have 27F, i.e., johnson control batteries, etc.

Dekka makes a standard 27F lead acid, Duracell brand from batteries plus

the X2Power 27F AGM is also available online, but that might be overkill for me. Also, if I were to go with an AGM battery, will the LX570's alternator charge it properly?

thanks

I'd probably just replace it with an interstate megatron plus group 27 and call it done. IMO this is about the pinnacle of flooded batteries. I have a deka in the 80 and it's good, but the interstate is slightly better. Interstate is what Costco sells, but a step down from the megatron plus...

Don't buy a Lexus battery as they are utter crap.
With that said the best battery I have every owned by a long shot is the Odyssey Extreme. After I went through 4 Lexus batteries in 6 years in my ISF I replaced it with the Odyssey. Powerful cranking, puts up with abuse, charges fine. it is an AGM, no maintenance, lead acid battery.

Oh, and get the spacer, unless you just want to put a chunk of wood under the battery.

I have Odyssey Batteries in everything I own. Generator, snowblower, 3 cars, and 4 in the boat.

I have the X2Power 27F AGM. One thing I noticed is when it's very cold out, the engine just starts right up, no sluggishness like previous batteries. Not sure if there is any useful performance difference but it is noticeable.

I also have the X2, the truck fires right up every time. This battery is significanly heavier then the one it replaced (stock panasonic). I am very happy with my decision, these things are full of electronics and drain.

At risk of revealing my ignorance, why does Amazon tell me that the battery this links to doesn’t fit my 2013 LC?

I guess I don’t know how to use “quotes”.

Why does Amazon tell me that the Odyssey Extreme linked above doesn’t fit my 2013 LC?

I just put a Optima Yellow Top in my 200 - love it

Does the Lexus use a 34F, or is it that the link is incorrect?

Also, I went to the Odyssey website, put in the details of my vehicle, and it suggested the exact same battery as the link above...still not sure why Amazon says it's not compatible since the manufacturer suggests it.

Sorry, I don’t know. Mines a 2011, maybe something changed or (more likely) Amazon just doesn’t know.

Thanks - it sounds like it’s the latter.

What about putting in a Costco branded group 65 battery in there?

Samsclub has a duracell (dekka) group 31 gam battery for $179. But then I have to get a new battery tray and connector extension

I use to play with high end batts, AGMS, spiral wound, etc. No longer.

IMO, it comes down to battery management. Specifically charge management. Abuse a standard battery, it dies. Abuse a high end battery, it dies. Just costs more. Even the largest battery can be depleted if not managed correctly.

If you have the battery charge management under control, even a standard flooded cell will last 6yrs or more.

I agree with @TeCKis300 on battery management/use being key. The thread title says normal use. Unless you have a specific need for a special battery, the regular Toyota TrueStart 27F is a fine choice with a good warranty and a decent price. Take good care of it and it will start your LX for years.

I recently replaced my factory battery with the Duracell 27F from Sams Club. $100, is 840 CCA @ 0F (vs the ~750 CCA of the Toyota battery). So far no complaints, even starting in -8F recently.

If you run accessories with the engine off regularly I'd look into AGM batteries. For normal driving I wouldn't pay the premium. I looked at some alternatives but at ~$250 it just wasn't worth it.
