I’ve noticed a small crack on the leather part of my steering wheel, it’s about 1/8 inch. I’m not sure if this is common on these or not but I’ve seen the peeling issues on other threads but those appear to be lotion related and that’s not a possibility here.

I have a few thousand miles and a couple months left on my manufactures warranty but I absolutely detest handing my keys over to the dealership. Is there an upgrade worth looking into or should I suck it up and try for a warranty replacement?.

Might be a rough go at the dealership anyway; they seem to be a no-go for anything cosmetic that wasn’t caught on the showroom before taking delivery. Especially since that looks like a cut. Probably best to do a refinish using the loaner wheel available on here, or try a little fill yourself.

It’s an easy “wear and tear” denial but I’m just surprised it’s already having issues and 30k miles.

I’ll track down the loaner thread and debate that versus filling.

Sounds like it’s time to upgrade to the OEM fully leather wrapped wheel instead :)
Something is going to change, exploring options now. Thankfully, it’s not very noticeable yet but I’m the type to obsess over the smallest things so we’ll see how this one goes.

I’m guessing the dealer will go the route of self inflicted cut vs defective material in the wheel.

Yeah, that’s kinda my thought as well and partly why I asked here.

I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of steering wheels and wish I hadn’t… I always find the expensive stuff to turn into projects.
