On my 60's it was up on the front bar. Tired of it being in the rear cargo area.

Want it on the ARB up front but with lights it would be in the way and there's really no good spot.

Mount on stock rear bumper. Underside on a frame rail.

Ideas welcome please....

Have you considered the roof rack?? A number of Mud Vendors have brackets for factory or aftermarket racks

Never had a roof rack. None from the factory. Don't need or want one. Thanks though.

Inside, sideways across the wheel wells. Use the third row bracket mounting nuts, cut a 60" jack down to about 57" and voila, fits perfectly. Safe from sticky fingers, out of the elements, and still accessible.

Do you have passengers?

When I don't have passengers, I put it behind the front seats in the rear foot well. It fits perfectly with no room for wiggle. If for some god awful reason you roll, it's got nowhere to go. It's accessible from either side rear doors.

Looks like you have an ARB front. I use the Hi Lift mounts I bought from Amazon:

They attach to the bull bar and are pretty inexpensive.

Yep I've looked at those, but I really dont want it up there. Messes up a clean look IMHO :).

Now back on this - Nakman you lost me on the wheel wells. Could you be a little more specific please. Photos?

I have plenty of good spots for it, so you should just give it too me :D

actually I thought carrying the hi lift it's kinda complicated .. the best ( least worse ) sport IMOP it's the rear bumber .. Alvaro used to have back there ( in La Cabra ) and I like that way ..

You can put it on your front bumper and still have room for lights.

Sorry the pic isn't the best but its all I have on my phone at the moment. More pics in my build thread.

I made this, keeps it out of the weather. Rally does not obstruct any view for driver or compromise my rear space too much. It currently has alot more strapped to it, first aid kit, snatch strap, winch controller... ** Yes everything is securley fastened and I also have a barrier between rear and passenger compartment I can install**

Rear bar goes across the back of the 2nd row seats, and is locked in by the seats. Base and ratchet mechanism is inside my winch-accessories bag... No racket and is protected from the elements, this is the extreme 60" model with the quick disconnect pins so reassembly is rather quick.

Ours is mounted on the back of our M101. I know, I know, I'm not very hardcore anymore if I'm planning on getting stuck towing.

But it is an off-road, in fact officially rated as an amphibious trailer.:D

Things to consider.

Mounting internaly-
hi-lifts can and will get dirty. so if keeping a clean interior is of concern, then might be somthing to think about.
Not to mention depending on the model (length) it could cause you to sacrifice some space inside your rig.

Mounting externaly-
it will be exposed to the elements and could cause more wear on the jack (rust).
And aside from being exposed to the elements, if you live in a "bad" part of town or even just highly populated area then it would be exposed to potential theives. So keeping it secured via a lock would be a no-brainer.
Also, depending on the mounting location. It could hurt your departure/approach angles and run the risk of damaging not only your jack but your rig as well.
Just some things to think about.

I've been spit balling an idea for this very problem in my head for a while. I'm still saving for front and rear bumpers, so it limits my attachment options.

I was thinking about welding a mount to the rear crossmember so that the jack doesn't interfere with the tailgate operation, or hang down too far to affect departure angle. The mount would have a tab to lock the jack down.

Opinions?
