So if one were to need a complete set of 80 series lug nuts for the alloy wheels, where would one find them? I obviously know about getting from the dealer and I know Dan quite well. But I'm wondering if there is any other place to try and find these little suckers. Any suggestions? Anybody have them and want to get rid of them? :)

Do remember there are two distinct types. Conical 91-94 and shank 95-97.

I got a full set from my local NAPA. I think they were a little over a dollar each, $30-ish total for all four corners.

Damn. I didn't know that. I am assuming it is dependent upon the wheels...? Is there a way to tell by looking at the wheels which ones it will require? I don't know the year of the wheels, but they are like the ones on this truck:

I can't see linky from work. (internet cops)...

For the most part, the wheels look the same between the 93/94 and the 95-97. I say for the most part, because there are some differences with some of the later years...

Is there a way to tell the difference by looking at the wheel?

I have 97s and a set of 96s to compare, but that doesn't help in this case...

Those are the same rims I have on my 94 LC or at least look the same (Stock aluminum 5 spokes) And I too am going to need at least 1 lug nut and 1 stud also (as I just found that one on the rear dirvers side is broke off) I would definately get at least 3 studs and 3 lugnuts. So whats the going rate on each?

Do you have any visual references of the two types? What type is an average lug nut (such as those used on my stock 60 wheels...)? Or is that another type completely?

Ferg, the early ones have a steel insert where the lug nut goes onto the wheel, the later ones just have a slightly bigger aluminum hole. I have a full set of chrome ones that should fit the later style, hit my email if you want em I will make you a great deal

i strongly suggest that you replace ALL of the studs on a given wheel. you're gonna kick yourself when the next one goes and you tried to save a few bucks by replacing them one at a time. i've lost my share and learned after the first time i replaced only one. be sure to use some anti-sieze when you tighten 'em down. the cost/effort isn't in the part, it's in gaining proper access to perform the work.

Sweet. Thanks will. Let me make sure which year mine are and I'll let you know. If they are the later years wheels, I'll definitely take those babies off your hands!

The photo is not detailed enough to identify the lug nuts. As previously mentioned, earlier alloys have hardened conical steel inserts imbedded in the wheel and the later ones are like an after market mag. Visually the wheels are almost identical other than that.

I mentioned lug studs... so thats what he was referring to.

BTW this is my 94LC wheel upclose.. does this give more detail... I assume this has the steel insert:
